I saw Flipped at a screening last weekend, but it has opened in 3 cities, limited release, going for word of mouth.

I liked it. 90 minutes is always a good length for a movie, and Rob Reiner did well going back to the fundamentals of good storytelling and good characterization. The characters were all well rounded and very human. They went back and forth, telling the same episode from each kids' point of view, but it didn't feel repetitious, there was enough new story each go 'round.

The kids they chose were good, though whatever the boy's natural hair color, it was probably fine, rather than making him blond. Aside from that, I loved the details. The food was so 1960s, overcooked carrots and green beans, really squishy white bread. The school supplies were perfect, nothing overly fancy.

The book was written in 1986, not an overly technological year, but I like that they moved it back a couple decades for the movie. No tech gives it a better chance of not looking dated in a few years.
