An American photojournalist working in Mexico is asked to escort his publisher’s daughter safely back to the U.S. To do so, they must pass through an area filled with what look like giant walking monster squids, the result of a failed space probe. In limited engagements, on iTunes and on Magnolia pay-per-view.

Those who are looking for a Cloverfield style monster movie will be sorely dissapointed by this picture. Ninty-nine percent of the film is the story of the budding will-they-get-together-or-not relationship between the photographer and the girl, and their efforts to get out of Mexico. The creatures pretty much stay in the background to provide a few thrills and a little metaphorical content. This is not to say that it’s a bad movie, it’s not, I thought it worked very well. But before you buy a ticket or a download, understand going in that it’s basically a love story with occasionally-glimpsed giant monsters. What it DOES have is one of the most unexpected scenes in any film of this type ever, in which the two protagonists witness what looks like a genually affectionate mating dance between two of the giant aliens, a shot which alone was worth the time spent for me. My advice: If it sounds interesting to you try to see it on PPV, you’ll probably feel less ripped-off if you don’t care for it.

This is also the only movie I've ever seen to give an Intel processor an on-screen credit.

No point in seeing this now. Shouldn't unexpected scenes remain unexpected?

I meant that the scene "unexpected" in the context of giant monster movies in general. As to this specific film, the scene has already been discussed on-line, and mention of it has appeared in film reviews (like this one, for instance). I knew to look for it going in, and nothing was spoiled for me. If I was out to spoil the film for others, I would have mentioned the plot point that occures as a result of the scene.

Very good movie with an outstanding ending.

Not at all a horror movie and more of sci-fi drama than anything.

I was intersting to read that their was no acutal script to the movie, most of the scenes were made up as they went along.
