CINEMA: Cinemark Movies 12, Ames, IA
AUDITORIUM: 2
PRESENTATION: Mystery Meat Digital (both picture and sound)
PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: Sound wasn't mono, but may as well have been
RATING: Two stars (out of four)

No dead bodies in the bathroom, which was sort of a let-down. Of course, I don't think this old dump has a family restroom.

THE PLOT: A girl runs from the bad guys. Or is SHE the bad guy? I'm really not certain. Wackiness ensues.

The good news is that it's stylized like Ocean's 12. The bad news is the plot is more convoluted and poorly laid out than Ocean's 12. It's so bad that they put a completely irrelevant character in the movie so that the lead could inexplicably lay the whole plot out to him (as they're driving away from the opening scene) for no other reason than to lay the whole plot out for the movie-going audience. They actually felt the need to explain the movie to us.

I did kind of like the way they ended it, though.

I've always liked Soderbergh's work, and this is no exception. A well shot and directed spy movie. Sure, convoluted, but fun. The best part are the fight scenes and a few great set pieces that...gasp...have no shaky cam at all. It was a nice change of pace!

Like Sam, I also really really liked the ending.
