I heard from more than one person that this movie was "hilarious." One woman said "my face hurt from laughing so much." So, I was excited for us to play it, plus we usually do pretty well with comedies that aren't too "raunchy." My wife and I watched it last night for a QC check.

I am still wondering what's so freakin' funny. It had a couple of chuckles here and there, but was it "hilarious?" No. It had a sweet story, although predictable.

The best part of the movie was Mary Steenburgen, which is pretty amazing when you consider the four male leads and how awesome they are when they have a good script to work with. I really liked Steenburgen in the '80s thriller "Time After Time" and thought she was equally appealing in this one (although her "hotness" level has dropped a little -- but not too much.)

The story is silly. Old guy goes to Vegas to get married, drags his three friends along (one of which hates him for stealing his girl back in the day) for a bachelor party.

One of the old guys wins $100,000 gambling, leading to the casino/resort lavishing him with the most expensive suite in the place, a personal assistant who had been scheduled to spend the weekend catering to has-been but still-rich rapper "50 Cent," and a ginormous party, all of which had to cost at least a quarter million dollars, in an effort to "earn some of that money back." They also make the four geezers judges in a bikini contest, which provides some eye candy for us viewers but other than that offers nothing to the story. In the real world, I suppose the hotel might comp a nice room and maybe a few show tickets, but I can't imagine a resort going to this kind of trouble trying to "earn back" a measly hundred grand.

Anyway, the whole deal with the party and the fancy hotel room and the bikini contest is meant for nothing except to pack the scenery with pretty girls and party animals, all of which frames the main story which is, Does Michael Douglas really love his 30-year-old fiancee? We know the answer (and what's going to happen later) before the movie is half over.

Overall, a big disappointment. A solid 1 out of 5 stars from me.

Saw this film whilst on vacation in Carson City, NV. Horrible movie. Not one redemming thing abpout it. Left 2/3 through the film.

We watched it again last night with some friends who hadn't seen it yet. I have to admit we both liked it better the second time, maybe due to lowered expectations?

All of the people coming to it are loving it, however -- so on that yardstick, it's a great movie! [Smile]

But still one star from me.

I agree with Mike's first assessment... terrible movie, especially given the potential of the cast on screen.

Fortunately, I'm quite sure I will not be watching this a second time in the near future [Wink]
