RATING: Three stars (out of four)

THE PLOT: A guy and his operating system get involved. Wackiness ensues.

Set in a not-too-distant future that looks and sounds a lot like how movies of the eighties pictured the future, computers have evolved to where we're no longer using keyboards. We're just talking to them. We speak to them through tiny earpieces, we carry small cell phone-like screen devices to see stuff. And the newest operating system has the ability to develop a personality. They're smart enough that it's as if you've replaced your computer with a real personal assistant. Imagine the irony.

Our sad star and the computer (Samantha, she names herself) start to fall for each other. We follow the relationship in a way that sort of reminds me of "Blue is the Warmest Color". And as ridiculous as it sounds, the plot works. Just sit back and let it unravel. There's some very creative moments in resolving how a virtual relationship could work.

The one real complaint I have is the use of Scarlett Johansson as the computer voice, because you can't help but picture Scarlett when Samantha's speaking. I would have preferred an unknown for the voice to leave it to the imagination.

Finally saw Her.

Its a pretty good movie. J Phoenix was better than I thought he was going to be, I have never really liked him as an actor but I would of given him an Oscar nomination of Christian Bale from American Hustle.

Script was pretty good and the story was interesting. Amy Adams was as good as she usually is.
