It looks like the folks on the other side of the pond have to wait until June before this hits a wide release. Quite an odd timing, because this movie is the ideal companion for the cold part of the year. It has a Japanese director and unsurprisingly, it's a rather confronting experience, so you might want to leave your kids at home [Wink]

The cinema that I watched this in, has the odd habbit of playing a little trailer in front, telling you what KIND of movie you're going to watch, which they specially selected and rated for you. It concluded with: Please enjoy this *FAMILY* movie... Great!

Snowpiercer is a post-apocalyptic science fiction movie, set in a world were humanity first almost blew itself up with global warming and finally managed to do so, after trying to fix global warming, turning it into a global freeze.

The very last remnants of humanity, strictly segregated into classes, are stuck in a large, very long train-of-life, traveling non-stop since about 18 years on a huge railroad-loop across the globe.

The movie feels like an odd mix between Brazil (1985), City of the Lost Children, Animal Farm covered in a modern, "Matrixy" glazing.

If you can get over the numerous goofs and technical fantasy in this movie, then this can be a quite interesting take on a somewhat macabre social experiment.
