There once was a time, I would gladly stand in line to see the next Spike Jonze release. Sadly, that time seems to be over...
It doesn't happen very often, but sometimes, I'm able to summarize my opinion about a movie in a single word: YAWN!!!
Seriously, I had to yawn to such extent, that I was worried to get cramps in my jaw.
Theodore is a somewhat lonely professional letter writer (although not directly part of the movie, surely soon to be obsoleted). Luckily, somecorp just released "OS1", the first OS that has true Artificial Intelligence built right in.
Not able to resist such euhm... 'temptyness', Theodore is sure to load OS1 onto his computer. After OS1 is fully personalized to his preferences, the voice of Scarlett Johansson greets him.
After having something that can best be described as vPhoneSex with his computer, he falls in love with his OS. From there on, the movie essentially winds down to a never ending string of menial conversations between Theodore and his virtual girlfriend called Samantha.
What some might call a thought-provocative view of the future to come, unfortunately falls short in the excitement department. This movie is so dull and repetitive, that this *bang* in-your-face message gets drowned in boredom.
I'm still trying to figure how this thing ended up there on IMDB with a rating of 8.3, makes me wonder if I was shown the version where somebody put together the pieces that were left on the cutting room floor...

There's already a thread for this movie.
