I liked the first movie, I thought it was better than expected. This one was OK, it seems to me that the producers are trying to stretch the story to become bigger than it is. I really do not understand why Lionsgate needed to push 3D for the second part, but there were two really good action sequences in 3D. The action in the Divergent series is pretty good, a little better than other movies of this genre.

On a side note, the star of the movie Shailene Woodley banged all three of her co-starts in separate movies.

At this point, the movie wasn't good enough to make me want to see part 3 and 4. I think the Divergent series is done for me.

The movie was presented on the 90 screen at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto in IMAX laser.

This movie sums up quite easily in one world: Yawn!!!

Please note: Exclamation marks are not optional.

The bore started at minute one and lasted the entire length of the movie. The script and the underlying story is so utterly formulaic, it must have been written by someone with an obsessive–compulsive disorder. "No, wait... need to write another cliche..."

Warning: No actual spoilers here, just potential brain numbing side effects.

The plot? Tris happens to be The One (literally) and needs to be hooked up to the Matrix to unlock a magical box, containing the message from the founders of the City of Ember. Unfortunately, she dies in the process, but since she's The One, she never really died off course. The box contains exactly the message you actually didn't expect it to contain, because it would've been too obvious. Yet it does anyway... Essentially, I interpreted this as a message from the "founders" of the movie: Ha! ha! Thanks for your money, you dumb f*ck and see you next year.

I'll skip describing my opinion about the gimmicky 3D in this movie in an effort to reduce the profanity in this post.

Went to see this new 3-D movie today at the AMC Van Ness in SF. It was playing in their only Dolby Atmos cinema room #10. Sounded great with plenty of surround information above, in the back and side walls. I was amazed at the 3-D as It was shot in flat 2-D and converted. The story was so so. Not to many people inside as this is the case for this cinema as they do no advertising in the paper or have no outside marquee. This AMC theatre does have great sound and many of the screens have a nice semi curve to them. This movie had some good outdoor scenes that looked bright in 3-D. The new manager is trying to get the home AMC office to do more advertising outside on Van Ness Ave to get the public into this empty cinema.

Although it's not right around the corner from where I live, I've actually been there several times over the course of the years. [Wink]

During those visits, the theater was always almost empty, but they're seemingly sufficiently important for AMC to not be closed down. Although the lobby is rather unusual for a movie theater, I really like it. Unfortunately, the cinema itself is just standard multiplex fare.

Maybe a bigger marquee might help, but doesn't the building have some kind of listed status that will make this a bit difficult?

I only caught the last thirty minutes of the first movie recently on cable, must admit I was a bit lost in terms of characters, motives, etc., Decent film, but nothing to really write home about.
