Or... Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge...
I'm still baffled why Disney releases the same title under different names across the globe. Yeah, I can somehow understand the urge to translate it to a localized language in specific markets, but Salazar's Revenge sounds far weaker than "Dead Men Tell No Tales" to me. And it's not like this Salazar is somebody we should know.
The movie can be summed up in one single word: BAD
If you want to sum it up in a sentence: More of the same stuff you couldn't give diddly squat about.
Also, it might be me, but to me it looked like Johnny Depp finally lost all his mojo. His shallow character remains as flat as a tomato after a hyperspace collision with a brick wall.
The whole movie is an overly long and and constant string of full-frontal action, a booming sound track which gives your speakers more workout than they would deserve for such low quality content. The barrage of sound on all channels doesn't stop until the VERY end, which as usual, follows the stupid bonus scene.
So, let's bury this franchise already and let's just pretend Pirates of the Caribbean is just a magnificent theme park ride, which inspired a half decent movie back in 2003...

Of course the press is going nuts about how this is the lowest-grossing Memorial Day weekend in the history of the century or whatever....without taking into account that the leading movie is one nobody was asking for. Well, except maybe Johnny Depp's agent.

I enjoyed the new Pirates movie in 3-D Imax at San Francisco's Metreon Theatre. The start was delayed about 10 minutes at a 12:45 matinee showing when the manager came out and told the crowd there was a chiller problem with the projectors? Once the movie started they used about 80% of the Imax screen. This now AMC cinema has one of the largest true Imax screens in the SF Bay Area. While not a perfect movie they had some great pirate characters and water shots in 3-D to keep me entertained. The surround stereo sound was very good. I don't know If this Imax SF theatre has the new Imax stereo system? I did notice the ceiling had speakers hanging, but I did see 2 large ugly box Imax surround speakers on the middle of the side walls. The director and writer forgot to put in a parrot in this new pirate story but at least they brought in a monkey/chimp later in the film. Go check It out in 3-D in a nice cinema with good sound.

this surprised me - I was not all that crazy of the last movie, but here I thought it was a good script, fun action scenes
(one that looked like an homage to the classic Ray Harryhausen creatures) - Javier Bardem looked like he was enjoying playing the antagonist.
