CINEMA: Cinemark Movies 12, Ames, IA
AUDITORIUM: 6
PRESENTATION: Cinemark Recline-O-Vision in a slope auditorium
PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: Low volume with even lower low-end, show started late because nothing started after Noovies until somebody complained and they could find an on-hand minion who knew how to manually dim the house lights and start the real trailers, girl sitting next to me smelled like an organic grocery co-op
RATING: Three stars (out of four)
This 19 year-old multiplex, which I’ve been seeing movies at since the day it opened (The Truman Show was my first feature), is getting a makeover. Half the auditoriums are up and running with the new recliners installed. The other half of the building is offline. The auditorium hallway has been stripped of it’s colorful 90’s Cinemark charm to the drywall.
Yep. They’re totally ruining the place.
THE PLOT: Heroes of the DC universe conspire to stop a Steppenwolf world tour. Wackiness ensues.
Not much to complain about here. It’s a minute shy of two hours, the usual DC brooding is kept to a minimum, and there’s legit humor, especially from The Flash, who has nothing to do with the television series Flash because who needs continuity.
The post-credit scene is a significant teaser for the pretty much guaranteed sequel.

"girl sitting next to me smelled like an organic grocery co-op"
I thought this happened only in Canada - we are doomed!

this like 'Suicide Squad' had some judicial editing done to it by Warner Bros. and as a result feels choppy - there's a reddit conversation where all the deletions/changes are described.
BUT ... visually and aurally this was a blast!
great 3D conversion and kinetic Dolby Atmos mix (which puts Marvel/Disney soundmixers Atmos mixes to shame) is eye and ear candy to the nines.
I wonder why they decided to go with the 1.85 aspect ratio with this DCEU movie, but on a unmasked 1.85 Arclight 'widescreen' screen' the added height and wall and wall image was epic.
