I like the Purge movies -- it's a cool concept for a movie and I enjoy seeing what stories the filmmakers can create from it.

The First Purge is probably the weakest one in terms of story, though; it's still a not-bad movie (and hoo-boy is it violent!) but the other ones gave you something to think about after the show was over and this one doesn't have that what-if aspect to the same extent.

However, the main problem this movie has is its title.

The First Purge.

Yes, it's the story of the origin of the Purge, so it is indeed the First Purge.

But try telling that to someone on the phone:

"What's playing this week?"

"The First Purge."

"Oh... didn't you play that a few years ago?"

It's the First Purge, but it isn't the first Purge movie.

I wonder how many people are staying away because they think I'm re-playing The Purge from 2013.

Maybe you could come up with your own enhanced title.... call it "The First Purge: Origins" or something.

Or just call it what it really is: "The Purge 4: The First Purge".

You're just marketing it wrong, what about:

The Purge Begins?
Purge Zero?
Primal Purge?
The Purge Menace?
