Instant Family follows a husband-and-wife who decide to take in a foster child, and then end up with three ranging from very small to a teenager.
It's a two-hour advertisement intended to encourage people to sign up to take in foster children. They beat you over the head many times throughout the show -- there are lots of abused and abandoned kids and there's a shortage of foster homes for them. Yes, I heard you the first time. And the second time. And the tenth time, too. Just before the end credits there's also a notice stating that if you want more information about becoming a foster parent here's how to get it.
So if you want to find out what's involved in being a foster parent then this is the movie for you, I suppose.

for a family oriented comedy - the tonal structure was all over the place, there's some meanness conveyed by some of the characters , and odd bits of hamfisted comedy moments, it's okay, but ultimately seems both vapid and schmaltzy by the movie's conclusion.

I had only four people come to the show tonight and they all left about ten minutes before the movie was over.
Looks like it's going to be one of those weeks....
