PRESENTATION: Warren GRAND slope auditorium with standard seating and Regal Roller Coaster Vision with new orange nut crown logo (REGAL! We're nuts about orange!)
PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: None [Cool]

RATING: Two and one half stars (out of four)

THE PLOT: A kid gets bitten by a radioactive spider. Wackiness ensues.

Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for around ten years now. He's the only Spider-Man. That is, until Miles gets bitten by a radioactive spider and Kingpin builds a supercollider that...inadvertently?...brings in a bunch of other Spider-people (and one Spider-pig) from parallel universes. Basically, they stole the idea of the Multiverse from the CW Arrowverse and not only made a movie, they released it the same freaking week the Arrowverse had its annual crossover shows revolving around a plot that relied heavily on the Multiverse.

The animation sometimes has a very computer look to it, sometimes a very comic book look to it. It's too long and not as fun as it should have been...in fact, I'd go as far as to say it's darker than any of the live-action Spider-Man films...but I wouldn't call it a bad movie either. I suspect comic book fans will be way more into this than movie fans.

I'd seen that this was coming but had no idea what it was supposed to be and it wasn't on my radar to actually see until the reviews started coming out over the past couple of days falling all over it.

AUDITORIUM: 7, row 4 middle
TICKET PRICE: $16 for evening shows on Mondays & Tuesdays; compare to $14.50 at our local Regal ripoffs with tepid presentation but FREE PARKING!!!
PRESENTATION: 4.8/5 Arclight doesn't disappoint. Just with it weren't a 30-mile drive! I believe it's Christie laser digital, and it was delightfully bright and excellent color saturation on a huge screen; 5.1 non-Atmos sound with true deep bass and pleasing tone at an aggressive volume.
PRESENTATION PROBLEMS: the front three auditorium lights fogged the screen unnecessarily during the previews and credits; they should be killed or angled. Should add Atmos to this auditorium.
RATING: Three stars (out of four)

Struck me as ADHD sensory overload and totally wonderful at the same time. This is visually unique to the point that I don't know what to compare it to. A movie for all ages - if the older ones can handle how frenetic it is. It's clean enough for kids and not boring for parents, with positive themes of heroism (duh!), courage, family values, and responsibility.

I loved how the filmmakers combined all elements of the movie to such tremendous entertaining effect - saw it three times, once in 3D, once in Dolby Cinema, and 'oh what the heck' a third time - this so deserved it's Oscar win as Best Animated feature.
