Saw this the other night at the Pacific Glendale 18, screen 9, row C center. Presentation was "nice." Both sound and picture were adequate for us to have a great time, but nothing that amazed us, and nothing that distracted us. This movie has an Atmos mix but heaven help you if you actually wanted to see it on one of the 0.0001% of southern California screens thusly equipped.

PLOT: An English explorer desperate for elusive credibility ends up taking Sasquatch around the world to meet his cousins, the Yeti. Relentless silliness ensues.

If you're already a fan of Laika's amazing stop-motion achievements, skip to the next paragraph. If you don't know this movie isn't CGI, you'd think it was just another computer movie, because the quality of the animation and detail seems impossible to create in a studio. But, with the exception of typical roto shots, it was. Laika's skill in 3D printing and animating is a wonder to behold, and the reveal during the closing credits is a jaw-dropper if you have any awareness about this sort of thing. Hmmm, might still be a jaw-dropper if you'd never heard of animation before.

But is it a good movie? Well, yes, of the mindless fun variety. The voice actors are all strong and memorable, and Hugh Jackman in particular lends a quality to the proceedings that helps make this the most sophisticated silliness you're going to see for awhile.

other than the fact that AMC Uptown cropped the film to a 'flat' framing, I complained bitterly, I thought this was Laika at it's most whimsical. Am really ticked though no 3D bluray edition is being released, nor a 4K disc, just 4K streaming,
