Based on the original in Sweden, an ice-hotel was constructed this winter near Quebec City. "It follows the same thermal principles as an igloo. The temperature won't drop below 32 degrees." "The complex includes six overnight suites, two galleries,a THEATER and a bar. Hotel movie-goers sit on ice seats equipped with fur cushions."....from SKI magazine, Feb. 2001. Dave: Aren't you on the eastern side of Ontario? If so, you're probably as close to Quebec City as anyone on Film-Tech! Good way to spend next weekend, taking photos of the theatre and having a "cool one" at the ice hotel bar.

A great idea John! I don't know if the website's photo gallery had a shot of the theatre, but they do have one at www.icehotel-canada.com . I'm assuming it's video, still quite "cool", but were it 35mm, now that I'd have to see for sure! Those chilly drive-in booths some of you no doubt "froze" in would be nothing compared to this!

"The temperature won't drop below 32 degrees."Waaaalll, I guess Quebec ice is different than Vermont ice. Vermont ice melts at 32 degrees, but can get much colder. The interior of an igloo or ice house can get warm, but it can also drop. If someone visits this place and finds some ice that won't drop below 32 degrees, please chip off a bit and send me some. I can always use more ice in my drink.
BTW, Is that the same "Ski" magazine that used to be put out by Sam Miller? The durn fool knows better.

Ice sounds really good considering it was 40 degrees celcius here today and the main projection room does not have air conditioning.
