There was an extensive discussion on these either here or on RAM-Tech a while back. A large fan spray of water is used as a screen for special event productions. Interesting idea, but wildly impractical for any small budget production. Additionally, there are focus issues.Try a google search of the usenet archives.

Saw a water screen used by Sea World in Orlando during a fireworks show for ShowEast participants. Looks like they used a film projector behind the spray of water. Gave kind of a 3D effect, since there is no distinct surface to focus on. But the image was never really sharp.------------------

This was discussed here a while back. Disney uses these extensively in the "Fantasmic" show at Disney/MGM Studios. (The same show has been at Disneyland but I'm not sure if it's still playing!) For obvious reasons, the pictures look best from a distance.

In 1979 we projected a 35mm print in the mist of Niagra Falls on the Canadian side. It was for the opening of the Multi-media Show "Miracles and Madness" produced by Trans-Lux Corporation. I considered that a waterscreen.
