Someone recently told me that a bunch of RKO theatres from the '30s and '40s had similar chandeliers. I wasn't aware of this before and, since the chandelier in the picture (theatre built in 1932-3) is a copy of the ones in Boston's Symphony Hall, I was somewhat surprised to hear that this style was not uncommon in RKO theatres.
Can anyone else confirm or deny that this style of chandelier existed in other RKO theatres of that era? I'd be very interested in pictures of other installations (even if they didn't use those ugly orange bulbs!) Click on the picture for a larger version.
(Sad footnote: the theatre in the picture is currently under renovation and it appears that the chandelier won't be re-hung when it re-opens.)
