Well, what a summer it's going to be. More sequels and remakes, 2s and re-dos,. Hollywood sure shows how much imagination they have, don't they? For me the summer season is the worst as far a anything of quality being put on screens. In the autumn it seems that the 'non blockbuster' movies arrive. There is usually more quality at this time of year. I'm not alone. Last night I was talking with a gent in his early 80's who was a projectionist all of is working life. He enjoyed Pearl Harbor and after was telling me "Nothing has changed since my day. 90% of the stuff on the screens is crap and you have to look hard to find a good picture".ANyway, that's my rant for today.

Mike Blakesley hinted at this in a different thread.I'm starting to see the results in the weekend box office surveys. If the quality is out there, people will come -- Shrek is heading for over $250 million in USA/Canada alone. If what's out there is overhyped product, the casual moviegoer will shout "Just Say No".
Look at these movies that get blurbed on the cover of Time and Newsweek:
Pearl Harbor -- 1st 3 days $60 million, 2nd weekend 50 percent drop, 3rd weekend 50 percent drop.
A.I. -- 1st weekend $29.3 million, 2nd weekend 52 percent drop.
Scary Movie 2 -- 1st weekend $20.5 million, 1st 5 days $34 million.
In every case the actual numbers are lower than what the hype wants the public to believe.
