We just learned that one of the prints we are supposed to receive for a screening tomorrow and opening Friday is coming from Technocolor via Airborn and may not make it here on time. The other print is from Cowboy Booking in NYC and may also not make it here on time.Technicolor just called and will not be able to air-ship us the print for tomorrow's screening. But they will be able to circuit us a print for Friday's opening. We have ad no word on the other print because we haven't been able to get though to New York.
We aren't going to worry about it too much, I'm sure people will understand.

I havent heard anything on Colleteral Damage.. Sony wanted the SPiderman stuff pulled bcause it all fetured the twin towers.. Apparently, BV pushed back Big Trouble as well..

Will Tech do "local" area "trade offs" to get prints to where they need to be by Friday, have they before? Talked to Tech rep earlier today, she just did not know what to tell me. I offered to drive to pick up a print if one became available within a reasonable driving area(need Jurassic3), she said it sounded like a possible solution if anything is in Greater Pitts area. I hate to cancell this weekend, I really think the kids need a break from the TV news and a bit of "normal" life.

On arriving at work this evening, i received at letter from our Advertisement supplier, Carlton Screen Advertising, asking us to edit and remove certain ads from the ads pack that will be arriving tomorrow for print build-up. Ads i have been requested to remove includes:Virgin Atlantic

Pearl Harbor still OK (we haven't received a notice to pull it).
Big Trouble trailers pulled & the release pushed back, probably because of the bomb in the suitcase in the movie. Collateral Damage trailers pulled & release postponed because it's about terrorism. And Spiderman trailers were pulled because they have the world trade center in them! Our office told us to take down everything from these three because they have release dates that are now incorrect.While the govenment's watching the sky, I'm sure somebody will try to make a buck off the spiderman trailers on ebay...

Carmike has ordered that all promo materials for Collateral Damage, Big Trouble, and Spiderman be pulled and stored.Screenvision has ordered the removal and disposal of the XM Radio ads which feature people falling from the sky through roofs.
A considerable stink is being raised about the Last Castle. Apparantly NY buses have the ad on their sides still. You know, the one featureing the upside down American flag

I called at one of my theatres on Wednesday to look at a problem, I asked 'how long before the show', the guy says 'take as long as you like, show is cancelled'. They were due to screen 'Pearl Harbour' but had cancelled it themselves. No instruction from BVI over here, which does surprise me.My thoughts and condolences to the people of the USA.

Loews Cineplex Entertainment has ordered all of its logo trailers to be removed due to it showing a 3d fly by of the twin towers.

Some updates per the Upcoming Movies website:Big Trouble is likely delayed to spring 2002.
Collateral Damage is off indefinitely and had its website taken down.
Training Day moves from 9/21 to 10/5.
Sidewalks of New York -- a Manhattan-based romance picture -- moves from 9/21 to November.
The Last Castle had its one-sheets pulled but is still scheduled to open 10/12.
There's speculation that Zoolander (sched. 9/28) and Serendipity (sched. 10/5) may also be delayed.
Ian: The County Theater in Doylestown PA had to hold over last week's lineup as it couldn't get prints out of NYC. The Film Forum in NYC had to juggle its repertory bookings for the same reason.

I saw an ad for Big Trouble today on TV. Suppose to be released on the 21st according to the commercial. It even included the bomb in the suitcase going through the xray machine.I also was instructed to remove the 3 trailers everyone else has pulled.

I saw the official email from sony distributing about the spiderman trailer. It said to remove & store the trailers until instructed by them to return the trailers.We had "Trouble" along with American Outlaws & Original Sin on our long running print of Legally Blonde. All had to be removed, leaving only a Harry Potter teaser and the Coke "nascar" spot left. I'm hoping they don't call for Zoolander to be pulled or I'm going to have nothing left but Coke & Moviefone on some prints! (Hey, Zoolander has terrorists!

you know, steve, it is possible add a trailer when you start having too few trailers on a printi did that with jurassic park
we had time machine, big trouble, collateral damage, and spider man on screen.
i forget what i replaced the last three with, but they were replaced.
that is, of course, if you have trailers to replace them with.
I know that is a problem for some theatres.

More delays: New Jersey arthouses didn't get to open Innocence yesterday. Montgomery Cinema in Rocky Hill (near Princeton) said on its phone recording that the print couldn't get shipped from Canada. The theater plans to open Innocence on Monday (9/17), conditions permitting.The AMC Hamilton (outside Trenton NJ) still had its one-sheet and standup for The Last Castle as of last night.

James: I'm aware that I can add more trailers, it's just that when we're understaffed here, I end up doing all of the repairs & operations in the booth. When I'm not busy I change them, but with eleven (yes, eleven, I counted them) changes to make, time gets tight.I guess that I should have said I had to switch those trailers with others... 
I used K-PAX, Corky Romano, Shallow Hal, Harry Potter, & Spy Game as replacements.

Well we got our print of All Over the Guy for Friday from another Bay Area theatre but we had to cancel our special screening on thursday as the print we were originally slated to get was coming via Airborne. Our print of Down From the Mountain is another story. It shipped via FedEx on Monday but got stuck somewhere and won't be delivered until Monday. I must say that the local newspaper was very accomodating and allowed us to change our ads at the last minute to call theatre for showtimes rather than running the DFTM times. People have been very understanding of the problems with print arrival except for one person who got all huffy, accused us of false advertising and stormed off.

Yeah, Steve, I know all about being
understaffed.
My booth is a bit understafferd at the moment as well.
With school being in, its hard to find people who are available to open and/or close and you get stuck with the same paople having to do it all the time.
In the meentime, you have to train people, which means that many of your working days are spent running shows so you can get people trained which means you have to put some non-emergency maintanence issues aside for a while so your presentations suffer a bit.
Also, I am the only one biulding up right now, as the only other person who knows how to do it is one of my thursday closers and I have been unable to train others lately.
Its an endless cycle.I also had to spend wednesday pulling all the trailers for big trouble, collateral damage, and spider man off as well as removing the fox 24:00 ad off of almost all of the screens.
Luckily for me, i only had to add trailers onto 4 prints as a result.

The AMC Hamilton had the advert for 24:00 in front of The Deep End on Friday night.Reading Cinemas in Manville NJ still had its Spiderman one-sheet and Big Trouble banner up last night. The manager told me he had not received word from Sony and BV to take them down. And this theater was waving the flag with "God Bless America"!

we were instructed here to remove...collateral damage, big trouble,spiderman and the last castle trailers...apparently the last castle trailers feature the upside down flag in it.....have not heard any rumors or official word about Zoolander or Serendipity being moved from there release dates.

Apparently, Zoolander is scheduled to open as planned but Paramount has asked a visual effects company to remove the World Trade Center towers from some background scenes.

Brought it back to get you up to date:Collateral Damage is now scheduled for 2/8 -- the Friday after the Super Bowl. Warner Bros. has also put the movie's website back up.
Big Trouble is now scheduled for 4/5 -- the Friday after Easter.

Yeah, it was also in the can with BEHIND ENEMY LINES.
I guess Warner decided it really didnt need to be held off any longer and decided to bring it out.
I dont see why not.
People obviously still have strong feelings about what happened, but I dont see too many people still shaken up by it to the extent that they would not be comfprtable seeing a movie like this.
I guess we'll find out in February.

I thought it was pretty dumb of Paramount to chop the shot of the towers from the start of Zoolander. I liked them...why do that? If they were going to cut them they should have cut the Statue of Liberty also. The shot ended up looking like it was cut...that's not editing...that's butchering.
