Does anybody have any good secrets to solve the pain in the arse problem of a coke spilled on the carpet hallways. This usally happens with a 44oz drink in front of the largest auditorium.

I would think that having a carpet shampoo/vacuum machine readily available to clean the spill immediately would go a long way in preventing a permanent stain. For example:

JP is correct about using a small extractor. Remember that soft drinks are sugar syrup and sugar is best removed with hot water and extraction. If you think a 44oz coke on a gluedown indoor/outdoor carpet is bad, try dealing with the unnoticed delivery of a seriously leaky figal onto a thick 100% red wool wall to wall with a jute back and fiber pad.

Emergency measures for such spills usually involve using a clean string mop rinsed in clear water, mopping the carpet. It will remove a lot of the surface soft drink and dirt even if it does get some funny stares.

Actually I used a clean mop to "mop" the spill up the other day and received some strange looks. Usually if he spill is rather close to tile I will squeegy(sp?) the liquad over to the tile and mop it up.

A vacuume would be nice, but right now budget is skimpy.

Carpet cleaners are coming tonight.

We have them in once per month. We traded passes for their whole shop so as to get the prefered discount.

One of our (better) reputations is having a clean theatre.
