Here we go again.

In an effort to continue the war for shelf-space, Coke announced "Tropical Sprite Remix." Pepsi was quick to return fire by realeasing orange "LiveWire," the third installment of the "Mountain Dew Trilogy"

I only ask that they bring back my beloved Crystal Pepsi [Frown]

What's next? "CokeRetro" (80's "New Formula")

In Canada only dark coloured soft drinks can have caffeine, so if you come here, beware! Our Mountain Dew won't satisfy your addiction.

Moutain Dew without Caffeine, surely you jest! Does it even sell?

I lived in North Carolina for a time and became addicted to Sweet Tea, hard to find here in Michigan, so Mountain Dew it is.

Another drink I enjoyed in the Carolinas was Cheerwine, a cherry flavored soda, I lived in Salisbury, NC and Carolina Beverage was one of our customers, very interesting history, too bad they haven't made it to Michigan yet.

Sweet Tea is no problem.. make it at home... get Lipton Cold Brew... no heating of water needed... let two bags soak in 1gl water for 15 minutes or so.. stir.. voila.... southern style sweet tea... I don't know HOW anyone drinks unsweetened tea... [puke]

I still have customers who complain that we don't have Tab pouring from our fountains anymore. I think we stopped offering Tab in 1985.

Mountain Dew Code Red is okay I suppose, but I'm still partial to the original.

Even though I tend to refer to Mountain Dew as Mountain Spew, the Code Red variety is ok.
One thing I kinda miss about someplace I used to work is having Surge available on the fountain - that stuff gets you right wound up! [Big Grin]

Lipton Cold Brew is decent, but when it comes to iced tea, my favorite has got to be Arizona. [thumbsup]

Lately my preferred carbonated beverages have been Dr Pepper Red Fusion, Fresca, and Barq's Root Beer - in a frosty mug. [Smile]

Fresca has been around forever but it seems like Coca Cola doesn't promote it much, if at all.

Are you sure Tab and Diet Coke are the same thing? I haven't had a Tab in a LONG time, but I don't recall it tasting like Diet Coke...

It's a reformulated diet cola that is back in some areas.
The original was pulled from the market in the 70s because it contained cyclamates, as did Fresca. Snappy brand names.

No, mountain dew and sierra mist taste very different. Sierra mist is a lemon-lime, mountain dew is something else.

I have to agree with those who say "Coke Is It!" [Big Grin]

What is it with Taco Bell not selling Dr. Pepper anymore? It was the only thing they served that was drinkable, and now they don't sell it any longer. End result is I don't go there anymore, as I'm not going to make one stop for food and another for a drink.

I'm told Tab was quite popular in the 60's and 70's. Now it's basically forgotten along with other once-popular brands like Fresca or Bubble Up. (I have a reel-to-reel tape of some 60's soda ads -- lots of stuff I'd never heard of like Sunburst, Par-T-Pak, Like, Nestle's Keen, Mr. Cola, as well as stuff like RC, Tab, 7 up, etc.)

It's a little known fact that the formula for "New Coke" was developed as an "accident" when chemists for Coca-Cola were developing Diet Coke. I didn't totally hate New Coke, but I think they should've sold it in addition to "Old Coke", not a a replacement for good old Coca-Cola.

The place I used to work at had a Crystal Pepsi machine in the lunchroom. One day last year this guy points at it and says "When are we getting that kind of soda?" [Big Grin]

If the soda isn't dark (like black), as in Pepsi or Coke, it can't contain caffeine. If somebody were to try and sell clear coffee here, it wouldn't be allowed to contain caffeine either.

Just another one of our fun laws... just like how we get points for speeding and running down pedestrians. [Big Grin]

BTW, I like Canadian Pepsi a hell of a lot more than American Pepsi.

All right I did get the facts mixed up. Tab was the first sugar-free drink made by the Coca-Cola company but it is a different formula than Diet Coke. So yes they are not the same thing.

Canadian Pepsi and coke use sugar instead of high frutose corn syrup like they do in the states. High Frutose corn syrup is cheaper, and tastes worse.

I am a coke fan, but I like Pepsi's non-cola products.

Any version of Dew. And my all time favorite spin off, Pepsi-Cona. The coffee flavored cola. That was some good soda.

It's not Pepsi, it's not a pure berry flavor, highly carbonated (out of the can or bottle). It's different. Not that I'm saying it's better or worse than Pepsi (or coke), just different. But it seems to be catching on.
