While I can't speak for any other theatres, it looks like the marketing ploy, lill thought logic, or whatever one would like to call it has backfired for this film.

I never expected it to do great business, but we have it in two houses and neither are close to 40% capacity right now. Sad.

From what my 'screeners' told me, I'm thinking this should do decent carryover business into the next few weeks.

Only time will tell, but it sure is empty around here today.... And we have no fires to worry over, only warm, briht sunshine beaming down on us.. [Smile]

Just the opposite for us...

With fresh snow on the ground our holiday season has begun. Brother Bear, Sold Out all shows so far today, I expect it to do well tommorrow also. I am excited for next week with Matrix opening and the business Bro' Bear will generate for us also.

Sold out most of the day.

Aud 15 - approx 380 seats
Aud 3 - approx 250 seats

We have two copies in our 297 houses and the matinees did decent, but nothing substanstial. I think the fact that we had two copies made it seem slower than it was. The night shows did a little less than the matinees. I still don't get why you cut your weekend gross by doing a 2 day weekend. Anyhow, the big hit tonight was still Mystic River (GREAT film) and our sneak of Love Actually. We had Love Actually in a small house, but it sold out fast and had quite a bit of overflow into In the Cut and Runaway Jury. I wasn't around to hear any comments about it, but it does look pretty funny.

Mojo has posted the weekend estimates and Brother Bear came in behind Scary Movie 3.

Jason called it on the button: Blame the Saturday opening and the weather -- it was in the 70's in New Jersey yesterday.

Today was even worse. I think this film will not do any rdecent business until the Thanksgiving holiday, by which time it may be doubled up with another print...

The AMC at Downtown Disney sold out the DLP show (300+ I think) but the other two screens were about 1/3 full.

80 here and sunny. Maybe people would rather enjoy the nice weather on the halloween weekend.

I'd hardly call a 2 day total of nearly $20 million a failure. If it was released on a regular friday, it could have probably reached the mid 20 to 30 million which is pretty good I think.

Not if Friday was Halloween. Kids movies generally do not do that great on Halloween.

It did decent business over the weekend, but Scary Movie was still on top for us. However, NJ teacher's convention is later this week and all schools are closed on Thursday and Friday, with some closed all week. We expect a pickup, but with Elf opening Friday, that could hurt it a bit. Throw in Matrix opening on Wednesday, and we expect to be very busy. Now if it rains.... [Roll Eyes]

Brother Bear continues to sell out at my theater (it's on one screen)...approx. 315 seats. However, my theater is in a family town and rain has plagued the forecast: go figure.

Brother Bear was a very strong hold for us and by the looks of the numbers across the country. I think it will stay strong this weekend despite Looney Tunes.

I don't have much hope for that Looney Tunes movie. It just looks dopey. It's a shame too, because I really was hoping it would be a good movie, what with Steve Martin and all. I hope I'm wrong, but it just doesn't feel like a hit.

The Warner people should sit down with that Looney Tunes box set and really study those films.
