Have you guys seen this new trailer? When we first shoed it on Along Came Polly, I had an employee come up and say that the film was burning...having seen the trailer before this I just laughed and showed him that it was fine.

I do think the hands behind the screen effect after the burn effect were really freaky. I have even had customers comment that it was very strange.

Any of you had similar experiences?

There's no substitution for the real thing (film burning).

I've had customers begin to tell me that the film is messed up then realize its fine.

This was the first time that I actually saw 'fake' burning on screen. I always wondered if it would trick me and of course it did.

Fake burning on screen never bothers me. After the first time you see it (anyone remember Gremlins 2?) you aren't phased much over it. It's those damned fake dirt and scratches that make me jump! [Wink]

i had an usher who came up to watch it when it opened that ran out of the theater yelling that it was a brainwrap..it just so happened that one of my booth trainees was at the other end of the booth w/ me when the call came in...he hurdled three film cans to get to the projector before I could tell him it was the trailer...I have never laughed so hard [Big Grin]

Let's hope that the remake is as good (if not better) than the original. By the way, there's no mall by that name in Wisconsin. I loved the trailer, but then I loved the original motion picture. I can't tell you how many times that I saw the original movie. Funny thing, Universal isn't ready to ship the one sheets (per website). But, the one sheets are all ready on Ebay! That sux. AchorBay is re-releasing the original movie on DVD in March. Thats kinda odd, I'm surprised that Universal hasn't block it.

This is only on version 3 (2:30). The other versions or teasers (1:30) do not have it. I have not run it yet, but I took one off the shelf and ran it on the make up table the other day and it looked like Gremlins 2 with the hands waving on the screen.

Seems to me this was used on a Freddy movie once too, maybe New Nightmare. I saw it on video however so it lost all effectiveness.

There truly is no subsitute for the actual burning of film on screen.

I never saw the original but the trailer sure scares the crap out of me. I think its that..ummm..jumping? I don't know what its called - all the blinking? Anyway, the burning film bit didn't phase me because the first time I saw the trailer it wasn't in my own theater. [Smile]

we're not running this trailer, but we did have a trailer burn on screen last week. seems a piece of masking tape came loose from its moorings and landed on the film, which jammed in the gate. (masking tape really is bad for film!) good thing the feature hadn't started. actually, never mind. it was butterfly effect.

The trailer is really great to watch. The people in the theater always look back at the booth to see what the problem is....and then they ever so slowly turn back around. "Yea I knew that wasn't real"

I had to pull the trailer from a print yesterday. I spliced the burn out to add to my "collection". [Big Grin]

I love the sound the trailer makes. You can hear the film "tail-out" passed the soundhead, then hear the projcetor behind you in the surround channel shutting off.
