Famous Players announced today that they would go to uniform pricing (less confusing for the customers, they said) at their BC theatres. New 7-day price is $10.95, down from $12.00
Cineplex countered later in the day,also eliminating Tuesday and matinee prices; their 7-day price will be $8.95,down from $12.00. Tuesday price was $7.00 (all $Cdn)
The $7.00 rates for seniors and children is also abolished.

That's uniform admission pricing, not the cost of employee clothing.

FP has been discussing this for a while. I think they did a trial run on Vancouver Island a few years back. I guess this is to bring in more people at nights, now that there really isn't an advantage to see movies in the afternoon anymore ( price wise ).

This has been in effect in Victoria ever since March, 2002. $9.95 standard price at Silvercity Tillicum, and $8.25 (up from $7.95) at Capitol 6 and Odeon 7. It hasn't done much to improve attendance, so that's probably why they haven't went back to the regular pricing.

Either Ron, will these prices be for all FP and CO theaters, or will the non-stadium theaters be two bucks less?

I can't see them charging the same admission to the " traditional " theaters as they do the SilverCities. This would be a extremely poor move.

The former Galaxy Entertainment switched to weekday pricing last year. It has worked well and has been in the plans for Cineplex Odeon theatres ever since the company was spun into Cineplex Galaxy LP.

I've seen this " Cineplex Galaxy " thing mentioned in a couple of another threads. What exactly is it? New management?

Any new management at Cineplex or Galaxy is just old management that swapped job positions. [Smile]

Onex and Brooktree spun both companies into a single company, Cineplex Galaxy LP, a publicly traded income fund (TSX:CGX.UN). Onex has retained about 40% ownership and controls the board of directors as long as they retain 30% ownership, Brooktree has left all together.

The Vancouver Sun reports the new price at Strawberry Hills (stadium seating, etc.) to be $7.99 - below the Oakridge, Granville and Park&Tilford. The Cinecharge line says no seats are left for next week at Strawberry, so I couldn't get a price from that source (and by implication should not bother to go there). I'll update this reply if I can get further information.
Friday 11AM - only senior and child tickets at $7.50 available through Cinecharge. I'm tempted to buy one to screw up the system if there is supposed to be just one price

I'm litterally 3 blocks from Strawberry Hills. I'll most likely be in there tomorrow to catch a movie, so I'll see if the $7.99 is a sure thing.

I beleive that Strawberry hills is the only Cineplex so far in BC to go to one admission price.

A check of the Cinecharge system shows all Vancouver area theatres are now single price: Granville, Oakridge and Park&Tilford are $8.95, Strawberry Hills is now $8.55. Those should all be net prices, as the boxoffice and Cinecharge systems are interconnected.
Odd that they should be selling separate tickets for seniors and children too at the same price - maybe someone with a statistical bent is keeping a job somewhere.. What happens if a senior goes in with a child ticket I don't know.

Senior tickets are reported as child tickets so it doesn't really matter.

Reporting is usually still broken down into child/senior, junior and adult regardless of the admission price.

Strawberry Hills' Touchscreen ATM only has General admission to select. No senior or child options are available.

My theater charges $6.42 after taxes.
