I've heard that Movie Tunes sends their signal to theaters via satellite. My question is this: Does Movie Tunes always use their own hardware (satellie dish, receiver, etc.) at a theater or do they have agreements to "piggyback" onto other's hardware?

Also, what is the typical set up for Movie Tunes, do they just play their music over "house speakers" or do they typically utilize a theater's "cinema surround sound"?

Thanks!

AFAIK MovieTunes is distributed on CD and the theatre plays it over the regular non-sync system.

There are various versions of MovieTunes -- a generic version for indies and smaller circuits, and then there are versions for the big circuits that are personalized with the circuit name.

All versions suck equally.

Movietunes also has music videos that are distributed for preshow video. Performers like Virgil, Yellowcard, Houston, and other pop [bs] ) We have the minute-long versions of these on our program. I feel extremely sorry for those that might have to watch the full versions. I'd have to assume that money changes hands for these small evil snippets as well.

Steve,

Are these 1-minute videos sent to you on a CD or are they piped in via broadband or satelite?

They are a part of our now 15 minute preshow program that we receive bi-weekly on DVD-R from Unique Screen Media.

Does Unique Screen Media pay the theatre or does the theatre (however unlikely) pay USM?

Advertisers pay USM, USM provides the program & equipment, we share the wealth. I have no clue how much though, I just replace the bulbs [Smile]

typically the movie tunes, with digital preshow, will be transferred along with the preshow content, either cd or uplink. For the lobby we have an mp3 player that downloads the content from somwhere and plays it through a completey seperate system as the auditoriums. We used to have to change out the cds every week.

Apparently I haven't worked in any of the "nation's finest theatres," since those are the only locations where the Movie Tunes web site claims that their program plays.
