If a 35mm print of a movie is nonexistent, who, or whom, can you go through to get the proper exhibition permission for a DVD? Swank and Criterion are both non-theaterical, so I'm not sure if they'd deal with us. Any suggestions?

I would contact Swank, I think they can license DVDs or at least point you in the right direction

I thought Swank, Criterion, and Kino have theaterical licensing rates for DVD's. You just have to ask them.

Swank and Critereon generally handle DVD distribution well; it certainly seems to be what they are optimized for, and I would guess where most of their business is nowadays.

It's my understanding that Swank ONLY has the rights to distribute 'non-theatrically.' I recently needed to book a classic that's not available as a 35mm, (prints's in poor shape,) and Swank had both a 16mm or DVD available, but I still had to go through the main stream distributor to pay for the 'theatrical' exhibition, but the film's coming from Swank but through the main streamer.

Theatrical or Non-theatrical rights have nothing to do with the media, but how it's being made available, either publicly or to a private, or special group.
