Suprisingly no. I worked my last two guest services shift this week, which is where about 90% of our advance tickets are sold, and I had a request for a whopping 0. This is from a theatre that did 1300 tickets for shark tale a week after it was out, during the day while kids were at school. Kids movies do well here, as long as it's not damn super-babies again...

I'm not too worried about it though, they are probably all just going to show up on opening day assuming there will be plenty of seating left [Roll Eyes]

Were selling a lot because we have a big ol' promotion going with it and a lot of people involved have bought for it. I am not so sure how many that arent involved have, though.

Not too many just yet.

Of course about a 3 days before release sales will pick up like 12 shots of NOS.

AND then everybody and their little cousin from Jersey will show up 10 minutes before the show starts and expect "good seats".

Don't you love it when they think that they will get good seats because they bought the tickets a week ago? This isn't a concert genius.

At our flagstaff location I heard we have assigned seating, I wonder how that's working out.

Cust "I bought these tickets two weeks ago and now there are now good seats available."

Me "Okay, would you me to refund the tickets or get you seats to the next show?"

C "I want good seats in the show I bought tickets for two weeks ago"

M "Exactly what part of 'open seating' confuses you?"

I must say I have a bit of sympathy for the customer there. By not having numbered seating, what encouragement is there to buy the ticket two weeks in advance?

We wouldn't last five minutes with an open seating policy. And besides it's good for business as people like it.

Incredibles doesn't open here in the UK until Nov 26th, so no advance sales yet. Although the interest levels are high. Bit cheesed off that it runs nearly two hours though. Less shows.

Easy, don't wait in line with hundreds of other customers.

Assigned seating would suck here. We would have to have at least 10-15 employees scheduled just to check tickets and move people to their proper seats, which would be followed by tons of "I've been in this seat for 20 minutes and he just got here, why can't i sit with my family!?" Of course we'd also have problems when moving shows to different theatres, which happens often.

I do have a bit of sympathy, depending on the scenario.

The purpose of bying tickets two weeks in advance is to guarantee you admission to the show (reasonably). However there is very little I can do in reguards to getting people to step down of their momentary high-horse to take a seat in the first 5-6 rows.

I am more than happy to radio up an usher or two to help compact auditoriums (most of you know what im talking about). But its pretty much a waste of man-hours if they are going to obstinant, snobs and demand unreasonable things.

We've actually scheduled people seating before big weekends on occasion. Usually it helps a ton and we can just pack them in there like sardines. However there will always be those who will never be pleased until they can arrive 5 minutes late to a brand new movie and have their pick of seats.
