What payroll system are you currently using? I am currently using the EZPay system by Lathem. Anyone else using this? Any comments on it?

never heard of it. ive used a system from workbrain, however. its pretty neat for a large chain all across the country. all information and transactions are done through the workbrain server, rather than locally at the theatre. it is web based, so this means that access to the system requires only an internet connection. clocking in/out, individual availability and schedules, shift swaps and all admin stuff are done via internet explorer. only downside is when all the theatres nationwide do the weekly payroll on thursday, the workbrain server crashes all night long from the strain. gotta love technology.

Hello, Tim -- We use Quick Trax, which is from Sensible Cinema. It works satisfactorily.

I don't know what is used to to the payroll, but our timesheets are done through ScheduleSource.

did they ever fix the problem of not being able to do more then one thing in a night. ie send a message, recieve stock, or enter a new employee?

Yup, you got it. I actually like ScheduleSource, though... It's nice to be able to access and manage your schedule from anywhere you have internet access. My only gripe is that ScheduleSource doesn't seem to respect split availability schedules (i.e. I can't work between 3 and 6 pm on Wednesdays, but the scheduler still schedules me for shifts like 12:30-8pm). I'm told that ScheduleSource does scheduling pretty much automagically, so I assume it's their problem, and not management's.

I never had an issue with the scheduler portion when I was with Dickinson - but I did the schedule myself, I didn't let the system do it. The big issue I saw with it was that employees could clock in and out from home.

ScheduleSource now records IP addresses, and can lock the clock in/out page to only certain IPs to help prevent employees from clocking in at home.

Pretty nifty system.

Workbrain blows. By that I mean that the web site blows and the company itself blows.

I've identified two bugs in their web code that makes the site not work on anything except Microsoft's stupid web browser. (what's it called again?) I tried contacting them to let them know about their buggy code... I even set up a "demo" web page on my own server to demonstrate the right way to code something versus the way they have it coded. But they bounced me around and acted like they didn't care about the bugs. They then told me to call AMC's helpdesk and tell them about it so they could take care of it... which makes absolutely zero sense, but I did it anyway. They didn't seem to care either.

It's still broken.

If I wrote a program and someone called me and said "I found a bug in your software" I think I'd be pretty damn interested in hearing what the guy had to say. Not Workbain. Hence... the whole company blows. [Mad]

Wow. You people actually pay your employees? What a swell idea. At least one college around here where I have worked in the past (and don't intend to work in the future unless some things change) doesn't seem to believe in the concept.

we used to use Lathem, but did not have the flexibility. We now use RTS's system, and ADP for processing. Alot easier.

At my last theatre we used whentowork.com as well for the scheduling for a while - I loved it. We used ADP then swithched to powerpay.ca from ceridian. It was great everything was online and the cheques/pay stubbs were delivered right to the theatre. They also have a US service.
