We have a satellite -> DLP projector setup from when we used to do events through this company. Well, we have long since done or heard anything with this company and we have sitting here a Christie Vista 3, and a locked black box. Last time I checked, the company is defunct. They were run by Youthstream Media, but not much exists besides this. Anyone have experience with them? Anyone have an idea what's in the box (besides the little JVC TV I can see from the back)?

My college had a similar setup, also for Network Event Theatre. There was a satellite dish and a Barco video projector (CRT, I think...very high end model for circa 1995, but the picture sucked by modern standards). They showed events, movies, etc. from time to time. I never operated the equipment, but I'm pretty sure that the box contains the processing equipment for the dish signals. Not sure what (if any) encryption was used.

ours was installed to be "tamper proof", but the extent of that plugging into the DLP was just a metal box that covers the inputs. That comes right off though. I guess I could plug in component cables to see if it works or not. It's a nice projector too, the specs say it's fully-HDTV Compatible (edit: it does do 1080p, I was wrong) so it would be stupid not to try and use it. I'm guessing that the projector isn't encrypted itself, it's just the satellite signal.
