I'm interested in hearing from anyone who's involved in running seasonal cinemas.

If you do and you want to explain what, where, when, how etc. that's be great.

I operate three venues over our summer for a month. I program some day and date as well as trying to pick the eyes out of what product has been released in November and December.

I have two portable plants that run of 240 volts, our standard supply here. The third is a council building that was designed with the intention of it being utilised as a cinema. Unfortunately, this isn't possible with the sports demand being higher than the demand for a cinema.

Hi,
I am the assistant Manager of Yamba Cinema in Yamba NSW and we operate all year round but have a major populattion increase during holidays with The Summer Hols doin alot better buisness of course. We screen alot of Day & Date films usually just the blockbusters and usually get all the other movie 2 weeks after opening we are a single screen. www.yambacinema.com.au

I operate a single screen outdoor venue over summer here in WA.
Coming up now for our 10th season this coming November and mainly have an older audience who remember the old outdoor setups many WA cinemas used to have alongside the hard top.
Many also hanker after another drive in but with land prices like they are now in Perth that idea is getting to be only a dream.
Would be interested to know how you can secure day and date stuff when all I can ever get, as a rule, is titles almost set to go to video yet we turn in quite good figures with those so why worry eh?

The Cape Cinema in Dennis, MA. (see photo gallery) is seasonal (April-October).

There are several seasonal theatres in coastal Maine. The Leavitt Theatre (Ogunquit, ME.) and the York Theatre (York ME.) are both open in the summers only.

Most drive-ins (in the northeast, at least) are open seasonally.
