Needless to say, this is not in any way an invitation for political comment.
This is the fifth election night in my adult life, and the first in which I haven't either been working in a cinema or in one as a member of the audience. In '92 the NFT audience was about average, at a guess; in '97 attendance was possibly down a bit at the Exeter Picture House; and in '01 it was a fuller house than I'd have expected at City Screen York (people escaping the tedium of an utterly predictable result?). Any thoughts on this time, anyone?

I don't know if the election affected our ticket sales yesterday, because admissions have been very poor since the start of the year. I suspect it might be the "bust" of the proverbial "boom-and-bust" cycle of most industries.
