Two Cinema Employees Tied Up During Burglary Attempt

FAYETTEVILLE -- Law enforcement authorities and the Fayette County SWAT team remained in a standoff Tuesday afternoon while trying to apprehend a suspect following a robbery attempt at a movie theater.

Authorities have gathered at movie theater to arrest a burglary suspect.

One suspect has been arrested but the effort to arrest a second suspect, believed to be hiding in the ceiling of the building, was ongoing. Two police negotiators were in the building trying to convince the suspect to surrender.

Law enforcement authorities were called to the 17-screen Tinseltown theater, located at 134 Pavillion Park near Ga. 85 and Ga. 314, at 1 a.m.

No injuries have been reported during the incident, which apparently began at 1 a.m. when emergency dispatchers received a call about a hold-up at the cinema.

Authorities said two employees were tied up during the robbery. It was not immediately clear what, if anything, was taken during the heist.

One of the suspects was taken into custody as he tried to hide in the ceiling. Money and a gun fell from the man's clothing as police grabbed the suspect's feet.

The suspect stuck his head out of a rear door but retreated back into the complex when he saw the mass of law enforcement officers gathered outside.

"We were hoping that he would give up," one officer said. "It's tense and it's hot. We don't know whether he's armed (but) it's just a very large theater (that) is very hard to search."

Police turned off the air conditioning in the building, which covers 72,000 square feet, in an effort to coax the man out. Temperatures in metro Atlanta were expected to soar to the low 90s.

The area around the cinema was cordoned off and mid-morning and early afternoon movie showings suspended. Police said they were reluctant to use tear gas out of a fear that the residue would pose a threat to future movie customers.

This sounds like a great scene for a real movie. Maybe (in the movie) they somehow remotely start up all the projectors to scare the hell out of the guy as he wanders inside the ceiling from screen to screen.

Or maybe it turns out that evil spirits or monsters live in that cinema ceiling and they go after the guy.

After hiding out from the cops for a day or two, the guy is starving, so he goes to where all the concession food is stored, but there are tons of gross bugs all around the food. Little bugs come out of each kernel of popcorn.

There's an undead guy making up the prints for the platters. He somehow manages to get the crook's fingers mangled in the tape splicer.

Then they somehow feed the .1 channel into the crook's head which drives him crazy or melts his brain or something of the sort.
