Not sure if this is the right forum, if it isn't I apologize. I'm looking to book Dawn of the Dead (The original) for a Halloween show but I'm having trouble nailing down who distributes 35mm prints of it. Has anyone ran this in the last year or so and know who distributes it? Thanks!

If the repertory division of the original distribution company doesn't have it then you'll have to start hitting up collectors and/or specialty distributors, there are a few.
Any booker worth his weight should be able to tell you whether or not it's available but since you're asking this question I'm assuming you're booking yourself.

Richard Rubenstein owns the rights to it, and he never rents out any of the remaining prints. Find a collector that has a print, and the collector will most likely have their print seized during the screening. Its happened in the past, and will continue to happen. Dunno why the guy won't rent out the title or strike new prints for rerelease. If memory is correct, Richard is an attorney.

There was a screening a few years ago at a NY museum along with other Romero movies, and apparently a new print was struck of DOTD. A guy in Portland I believe claims to have gotten the rights to show the film but was looking for a print to show, I think he may have found it... not sure if it was legit or not.
