Mr. John Lowe, a district manager for National Amusements died Tuesday after an illness. He was 78, and had worked in the movie industry for 63 years. He began his career as an usher at the Calvin Theatre in Northhampton, MA, and worked for National Amusements since 1962. His life long passion was studing, collecting, and sharing every aspect of the motion picture industry. He was a tough but fair district manager and had been a leader in the Western Massachusetts area for the local cinemas. [Frown]

Thank you, Bud. I have known John Lowe for over 30 years. A true gent. True old-time theatre manager. It was my pleasure to finally meet him in person about one year ago.

John oversaw the Showcase in one of my properties (Eastfield Mall-Springfield). It was my annual treat to take John to lunch and chat about new and classic films and the business in general. He was a true gent. I'm sorry I didn't hear of his passing until well after the fact. RIP
