I see S.O.A.P. is playing at Carmike's dollar house in Billings. This must be some kind of speed record, isn't it? Even a flop movie usually goes 6 weeks before hitting the cheap seats. [Confused]

I had the same surprised reaction late this afternoon as well. S.O.A.P. is booked at the Vaska Theater, the only bargain theater still in operation in this small city.

When I first saw the name of this thread -my first response was "Yeah - there are snakes in dollar theatres - they put them there to eat the rats"

But seriously - with 3555 prints released for this film - they had to do something with the extras.

Right?

This was a hit and run. The Kick Ass SoaP, made it's 20ish mil. in the first 2 weeks. Does a couple more in the 2nd run houses and cleans up like a mother freaker during DVD sales. Hardly a flop. What did it cost to make... 30's? 10 for the hype (well done by the way). Gonna make way more than 40 million in the long run. Which is more profitable? 200 plus for Superman. Not much profit there if it barely cracks that mark. Snakes ends up with 15 or 20 extra in the bank at days end.
For as much fun as that flick was...bring on more just like it.

snakes almost put out theatre out of business. If wed have to keep it more than a week wed been in trouble.

That dubious distinction might go to "Bloodrayne". It was made immediately available to subrun. To add insult to injury, very few theatres took them up on the offer. The theatre I work for actually recieved an unsolicited print, which we shipped right back.

As for "Snakes", I think Keith hit the nail on the head. I've been noticing more and more films taking the "hit and run" approach, as they shrink their windows for a quick cash in.

Wasn't that the film that was shipped to many theatres by mistake? I'm pretty sure every Carmike got a print and NONE were booked for it. No wonder it went to discount houses right away.
