Yup.

Whirlpool Forum topic

It's a forum, but there are some GU people in there who confirm it. Apparently it's only 'select' cinemas and those that do go will be all-digital.

There are several other references to it on Google. Search 'event cinemas'.

Interesting John. Wonder which sites they're changing over here in WA.

GU's Inaloo site over here in WA has been re branded. The Morley site is still being advertised as GU.

I must admit it all seems a little starnge. I understand the concept, but Event? Why not The Greater Union Experience cinemas or something? I hardly think these live (delayed!) rock concerts and the like will ever be the money spinners that features are.

It does not mean all digital (not yet anyway), I think it means Digital 3D, Gold Class and V Max. GU/Event have more digital coming in the next few months, but not enough to cover all of these Event cinemas.

100 years of (Greater) Union branding gone......brave decision. I wonder what Sir Norman would think?

He's turning over in his grave even as we speak. In fact, he's been doing that since the early 90's :-(
