We are in discussions with RealD concerning ticket royalty.
Atm they want 25% of the increase in the gross admissions charge for 3D.
Is the gross admission inclusive Sales Tax? and 3D Glasses?

I have heard that some cinemas get the glasses for free - is that true? We pay about 1$ each.

Over here we pay flat @50 cents per ticket. No cost for the Real-D equipment if you are a Cinema Buyers Group Member. The cost is still zero in the end because that 50 cents comes out of the 3-D surcharge which is anywhere from 2 to 3 US dollars on top of the normal ticket price. Do you add a 3-D surcharge to your normal ticket price over in Denmark?

We add a 3-D surcharge of 10 dkr + 10 dkr for the glasses. (about $2 + $2 = $4 total surcharge.) If the customer comes with their own 3D glasses from earlier they only pay 10 dkr.
The $4 are inclusive sales tax.
RealD wants os to pay 25% of the total $4 = $1 !!
If we deduct tax and glasses we are down to a 8 dkr surcharge at 25% = 2 dkr or about 50 cents.
Atm they (in europe) don't agree. :-(

Why not go for Depth Q or Master Image if you want silver screen? Cheaper in long run....

I personally think that Master Image is the better option. Sure, you have a higher starting price because the equipment is probably a bit more expensive but there is no license fee and the glasses cost the same. We even have personalised glasses here with no extra costs. But yes, you still need a silver screen.
