GHOST PROTOCOL is not just opening early at IMAX locations. It is also opening at Marcus Ultrascreens, Cinemark XD, RAVE Xtrene on the 15th or 16th. I'm guessing it might be opening at other large screen flavors also, but I haven't confirmed any yet.

Was just in the Ultrascreen last week, and the picture is much brighter and clearer with their new digital equipment.

I noticed this on the release calendar a few weeks ago. I suspect it's an attempt to prevent screens from going to Tintin on 12/21.

If you watch the end of the most recent full trailer, it says something about opening in IMAX and PLF screens on December 16th. Or, rather, the one that's not tagged "No IMAX."

Umm ... Paramount is distributing both Mission Impossible and Tintin ... why would they do this to block their own film?

TinTin is Dreamworks. Probably the two divisions fighting it out. (Or -- maybe the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing?)

I personally think both of them are going to be hits, but not the mega-blockbusters Par is hoping for.

Though different production divisions, the same sales person sells both films...

I don't think this is the case. Most of the digital IMAX cinemas in my area are showing Tintin for the matinee with MI4 in the even shows.
