The theater here is on a tight budget since we are trying to save and convert to digital. I was wondering if anyone knew of any theaters that would be shutting down that would be willing to sell equipment. Although I could use things like center feeds and the like I really need some booster seats. Any advice anyone has is appreciated. [Smile]

Check in the back of BoxOffice magazine. There's usually someone trying to sell used Barco's in the classified section. Just be careful. I'd guess they are Series 1's....

Hi Jessica,

I have some used digital equipment that you might be interested in. See my post here in the For Sale forum.

Jessica, you need to be very careful what you buy and who you buy from when it comes to digital cinema equipment. Certain older gear will be totally useless or worse, be very unreliable and end up costing you a great deal of money in the long run. The equipment Kevin has listed is good stuff, but at the price he's asking you are very close to the expected theatre net of the new series of integrated projector/servers.

The new generation of integrated projector/server might be your best bet depending on how big your screen(s) is/are.

As for the benefits/risks of older dc gear, I will suggest you let Brad Miller, Steve Guttag and Louis Bornwasser speak their opinions, they have many screens (and years) worth of experience. They may also know of some equipment sources.

Unlike film projectors, D-cinema gear becomes obsolete and unusable in some cases.
