Is there a good system that is not too distracting to other patrons, and is cost effective for the Deaf? At this time I show On Screen Cations one day a week for our deaf community. The biggest complaint is that it was at a bad time or bad day. Now I'm looking at the glasses or the cup holder devises, but cannot find any reviews that are possitive

We have cupholder CaptiView units and they have been received very well.

There is the USL infrared system. Cup holder units and glasses units. And Doremi's radio based cup holder units. USL's is incorporated with HI/VI audio system. The audio system is an option with the Doremi and have to be programed for each theatre. USL's receivers work on any screen without programming.

There is also the rear captioning system with reflective panels.

Your booth equipment supplier should be able to give you quotes on both systems and maybe even setup a demo. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

We have the USL system with the cup holder devices. For the most part they have worked well. The handful of regulars who use them seem to really enjoy them.

The USL system also has the two channels on the headsets so you can offer visually impaired narration. We only have one regular customer who uses this, but I think they come to the movie more often since this is available.

Fidelio has 4 channels which will be nice if they ever start alternative languages. We have both systems and we have always had issues with IR not covering the whole theater. I must say that Fidelio is the clearest audio I have ever heard out assisted listening device. While we have not had the Fidelio system very long. We have had several issues with USL panels dying. Both systems have their plus and minus. Right now I lean toward the Fidelio and captiview.
