Received a notice yesterday that Open Road Films is filing for Chapter 11. I've been around long enough to see scores of distributors go belly up, but this one caught my attention because Open Road was a joint venture of Regal and AMC. According to the papers it was even known as REGAMC releasing for awhile.
Curious to know if they are still involved, and if so, does this mean they've decided to get out of the film distributor biz.
They seem to be taking 4 production companies out with them.
Any inside dirt?

Regal and AMC are out, they sold it to some investment firm last year. Sounds like they ran it into the ground. At least they had a Best Picture Oscar winner during their short run, Spotlight in 2015.

So, what happens to their library?

If it's a liquidation, I'd guess that their library is sold off to pay creditors.
