What ever became of Ryder Sound Service of Los Angeles? They were a post production audio company (similar to Glen Glenn Sound).

I put their name into "Google" but not much came up except a list of TV shows and movies they provided sound service for.

Ryder Sound was one of the Hollywood sound companies to be "absorbed" into Todd-AO Corp.

In the late '80s, Todd-AO was part of an empire owned by the Naify brothers (Robert & Marshall), of San Francisco. Their exhibition empire ultimately included the United Artists Theater Circuit and other holdings. Acquisitions were already a big thing in those days, so in 1986 Todd-AO absorbed Glen Glenn Sound, and before too long after that they also added Ryder Sound to the group. And at least one other sound facility, which had been (so I was told) owned by filmmaker Robert Altman.

The fortunes of Todd-AO Corporation and the Naifys are closely intertwined, and it's a saga of big businesses, millionaires and billionaires. Check the Wikipedia articles for "Todd-AO", and also those for Robert Naify and Marshall Naify for more specifics.

None of those Wiki links specifically mention Ryder Sound, but you'll see the big picture of the machinations of how these all eventually got lumped into various giant holding companies, followed by a bankruptcy (in 2014), resulting now that what's left is owned by an outfit named "Sounddogs". Could it be said that Todd-AO has gone to the dogs?
