To be read in and Irish accent!

My god! What happened to you?" the bartender asked Kelly as he
hobbled in on a crutch, one arm in a cast.

"I got in a tiff with Riley."

"Riley? He's just a wee fellow," the barkeeper said surprised."He
must have had something in his hand."

"That he did," Kelly said. "A shovel it was."

"Dear Lord. Didn't you have anything in your hand?"

"Aye, that I did -- Mrs. Riley's left tit." Kelly said. "And a
beautiful thing it was, but not much use in a fight!"

This Irish guy goes into a bar in the Greek Islands. Sinead, an Irish
student who is currently working behind the bar, takes his order and
notices his Irish accent.
Over the course of the night they talk quite a bit. At the end of the
night he asks her if she wants to sleep with him. Although she is
attracted to him she says no.
He then offers to pay her 100 quid for the deed. Sinead is travelling
the world and because she is strapped for cash she agrees.
The next night the same guy turns up again and after showing her
plenty of attention throughout the night he asks if she will sleep
with him again for 100 quid.
She figures in for a penny in for a pound - and it was fantastic the
night before - so she agrees. This goes on for five nights. On the
sixth night the guy comes into the bar.
But this night he orders a beer and just goes and sits in the corner.
Sinead is disappointed and thinks that maybe she should pay him more
attention. She goes over and sits next to him.
She asks him where he is from and he tells her Cork.
"Wow, so am I," she says. "What part of Cork?" "Montenotte," he says.
Well holy god -that's amazing," she says, "so am I - what street?",
to which he names the street. "This is unbelievable," she says,
"what number?" "Number 20," he says, and she is truly gobsmacked .
"You are not going to believe this," she says, "I'm from number 22 -
my parents still live there!" "I know," he says
"Your Da gave me five hundred quid to give to you!"

An Irishman named O'Malley went to his doctor after a long illness.
The doctor, after a lengthy examination, sighed and looked O'Malley in the eyes and said, "I've some bad news for you. You have cancer, and it can't be cured. You'd best put your affairs in order."

O'Malley was shocked and saddened. But being of solid character, he managed to compose himself and walk from the doctor's office into the waiting room.

To his son, who had been waiting, O'Malley said,"Well, son, we Irish celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things are don't go so well. In this case things aren't so good. I have cancer. Let's head for the pub and have a few pints."

After 3 or 4 pints, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more beers. They were eventually approached by some of O'Malley's friends who asked what the two were celebrating.

O'Malley told them that the Irish celebrate the good and the bad. He went on to tellthem that they were drinking to his impending end. He told his friends, "I have been diagnosed with AIDS." The friends gave O'Malley their condolences and they had a few more beers.

After his friends left, O'Malley's son leaned over and whispered his confusion. "Dad, I thought you had cancer? You just told your friends you had AIDS!"

O'Malley said, "I don't want any of them sleeping with your mother after I'm gone."

An Irishman drives into a petrol station with a sabre-toothed Bengal tiger on the back seat of his car. The attendant notices it and says, 'that's a dangerous wild animal - you should take it to the zoo straight away!' 'That's a grand idea, I'll do it now,' replied the Irishman. The next day he returned, still with the tiger in his car, only this time it was wearing sunshades and had a towel on its back. 'I thought I told you to take that thing to the zoo,' commented the attendant. 'That you did,' the Irishman replied, 'and a grand day out we had. But today he wants to go to the beach.'

An Aer Lingus jumbo jet is in mid-Atlantic when one of its engines fails. The captain comes on the Tannoy: 'Ladies and gentlemen, you may notice some smoke and flames coming out of one of the engines. This is nothing to worry about, because the plane is designed to fly, if needs be, with only one engine working. All this means is that our arrival will be delayed for an hour or so.'

A while later, another one goes and the captain puts the delay at two hours. Then the third fails as well, and he announces that the delay is up to three. At this point, one of the passengers remarks: 'Geez, if the last one dies we'll be up here all day!'

One day, an Englishman, an Irishman, and a Scottish man, were standing on a bridge.

As they were standing on the bridge chatting, a herd of cows crossed the bridge.

"Those have got to be English cows," the Englishman commented. "They're black and white."

"No," the Irishmen argued. "They've got to be Irish cows, they got spots."

"I beg to differ," the Scottish man said. "Those are Scottish cows. They got the wee bagpipes hanging down!

Well, John O'Riley won the contest for the best toast of the evening, "Here's to The Best Years o' Me Life, Spent Between The Legs o' Me Wife."

His wife then asked him what his toast was, and he said, "Here's to the Best Years o' me Life, Spent in Church wi' me Wife."

His wife then said, "Why John, that's so nice of you to include me in your toast."

The next morning, Mrs. O'Riley was downtown shopping and ran into the local policeman on the beat who was also at the Toast Masters meeting with John O'Riley.

He said, "Hello Mrs. O'Riley, that was some great toast that your husband John gave at the Toast Masters meeting last evening. He won first prize".

"Yes, that's right," said Mrs. O'Riley, "but he wasn't quite honest with the facts: he's only been there twice, the first time he fell asleep and the second time I had to pull him out by the ears."

This is a real letter, which somebody posted to the Tax office in IRELAND explaining why they had not paid Tax for several years. This is alleged to be the actual text of a letter received by the Revenue Commissioners from a Co. Longford farmer in reply to an income Tax demand.

Dear Sirs,

Your letter arrived this morning in an open envelope and it would have given the son and myself pleasure had it not revived in us a melancholy reflection of what has gone before. You say you thought the account could have been settled long ago, and you could not understand why it hadn't. Well, here are the reasons:

In 1987 I purchased a hay shed on credit. In 1988 I bought a combine harvester, a manure spreader, two horses, a double barrel shifter, two cows and ten razor back pigs, also on credit.

In 1989 the bloody hay shed burnt to the ground leaving not a damn thing. I got no insurance either as the bloody premium had lapsed. One of the horses went lame and I loaned the other one to my brother who starved the poor bugger to death.

In 1990 my father died and my brother was put away when he tried to marry one of his sheep named Hilda. A knacker got my daughter pregnant and I had to pay him a grand to stop him becoming one of my relatives.

In 1991 my son got the mumps which spread to his balls and he had to be castrated to save his life. Later in the year I went fishing on the Shannon and the bloody boat overturned, drowning two of my sons, neither being the fucking eunuch who was by now wearing his sisters make-up and dresses. Not long after he emigrated to America with the new parish priest. They are now married and trying for children.

In 1992 my wife ran away with a pig jobber from Drumlish and left me with new born twins as a souvenir and I had to get a housekeeper, so I married her to keep down expenses. I had a hell of a job getting her pregnant (to qualify for more children's allowance). I went to see the doctor. He advised me to create some excitement at the crucial moment so that night I brought my shotgun to bed and when I thought the moment was right I leaned out of bed and shot both barrels through the window, the wife shit the bed, I ruptured myself, and the next morning I found I had blown both doors off the barn, shot my best dairy cow and killed the fucking knackerer who was in the hay loft with my daughter trying to get more money out of me, which he didd because I had to pay for the fucker's funeral expenses.

The next year, 1993, someone cut the balls off my prize bull, poisoned the water, and set fire to the house. I was bolloxed and took to the drink and did not stop until all I had left was a pocket watch and a weak bladder. Winding the watch and running for a piss kept me busy for a time.

This year I took heart again and bought (on the hire purchase) a bulldozer, tractor and trailer and a new bull. Then the Shannon flooded and washed the bloody lot away, my second wife got V.D. from a land inspector and my last surviving son died from wiping his arse on a poisoned rabbit I had put down for dogs who were worrying the sheep.

It surprises me very much that you say you will cause trouble if I don't pay up. If you can think of anything I've missed I should like to know about it. Trying to get money out of me will be like trying to pokebutter up a hedgehog's hole with a red hot needle.

I'm praying for a cloud of cat's shit to pass your way and I hope it will fall on you and the bastards in your office who sent me this final demand.

Yours for more credit

John Murphy"

Irishman At The Pearly Gates

So up goes an Irishman to the pearly gates, and he patiently waits for St. Peter to look up from his work. Finally, he gives the Irishman his attention.

"And you are?" St. Peter asks.

"I'm Kevin O'Conlan," replies the Irishman.

"Hmm, O'Conlan...O'Conlan..." the gatekeeper mused, poring over his compendious list of people and events. "Ah, here we are. Kevin O'Conlan, you're a member of the Irish Republican Army."

"Yeh, that'd be me," replies Kevin.

"You blew up that pub in London!"

"Yeh."

"You also blew up a bus in Belfast and a munitions transport in Northumberland."

"Yeh, that's all me work," comes the nonplussed reply.

St. Peter is just amazed at this guy, and when he finally finds words, he blurts, "Well, good God, man, we just can't let you in here!"

"Let me in, Hell!" says Kevin. "I come to tell you you've got ten minutes to get out!"

The Irish Film Festival.

One day the Irish Film Institute sent out brochures and flyers announcing a major international film festival in Dublin - one which would rival Berlin and Cannes, so the organisers claimed.

Only one thing looked a bit strange - the festival programme consisted of the same film (an OK romantic melodrama, but by no means a masterpiece), which was to be shown four times a day for two weeks, just like in a multiplex.

All the film-makers and critics who saw this thought that this was to be a bold new programming experiment, an innovative work of 'event art' if you like (a bit like Bill Viola's videowalls, for example).

Eventually, on day two of the festival, one of the delegates asked the director what the idea was.

'Well, you know the film's got Sharon Stone in it?', he asked.

'Yes,' the delegate replied.

'And in that last scene she's takes all her clothes off,' the director continues.

'Well she starts doing that, but then a train comes past the window and that's the end of the movie,' the delegate protested.

'There you have it,' said the director, 'you see, we figured that if we showed the film often enough then one day the train would be late and then the end really will be worth seeing!'

Englishman, Frenchman and Irishman

An important scientific project, with a lot of money injected into it from the government took place. The aim was, "why is the head of a man's penis larger than the shaft".

An English man, was paid $300,000 pounds, and after 3 weeks of experiments, came up with the conclusion that the, head of a
man's penis is larger than the shaft, so that the man has more pleasure during sexual intercourse.

The scientists tried again, and paid a French man, $750,000, and after 2 months of expensive experiments, came up with the conclusion that the, head of a man's penis is larger than the shaft, so the the woman has more pleasure during sexual intercourse.

The scientists tried for one final time with an Irish man. He was paid with a beer and a packet of crisps, and after a quick 15 minute experiment, the Irish man concluded:

"The head of a man's penis is larger than the shaft, to stop your hand flying up and hitting you in the head".

Speech

An Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman are all to give speeches to the Deaf Society.

All are keen to make an impression on their audience.

The Englishman goes first and to the surprise of his colleagues starts by rubbing first his chest and then his groin.

When he finishes the Scotsman and Irishman ask him what he was doing.

At a wedding just outside Cavan in Ireland, everyone got pissed and the bride's and groom's families wrecked the reception room and generally kicked the crap out of each other.

The Police got called in to break up the fight. The following week, all members of both families appeared in court. The fight continued in the court room until the Judge finally bought calm with the use of his hammer, shouting, "Silence in Court!"

The court room went silent and Paddy, the best man, stood up and said, "Judge, I was the best man at the wedding and I think I should explain what happened."

The Judge agreed and asked Paddyto take the stand.

Paddy began his explanation by telling the court that it is traditional in a Cavan wedding that the Best Man gets the first dance with the Bride.Paddy said, "After I had finished the first dance, the music kept going, so I continued dancing to the second song, and after that the music kept going and I was dancing to the third song, when all of a sudden the groom leapt over the table, ran towards us and gave the bride an unmerciful kick in her privates."

The Judge instantly responded, "God...that must of hurt!"

Paddyreplied "Hurt! He broke three of me fucking fingers!"

A golfer in Ireland hit a bad hook into the woods. Looking for the ball, he discovered a Leprechaun flat on his back, a big bump on his head, and the golfer's ball beside him. Horrified, the golfer took his water bottle from his belt and poured it over the little guy, reviving him. "Arrgh! Wha happen?" the leprechaun says. "Oh, I see. Waal, ye got me fair and square. Ye get three wishes. Whaddya want?"

"Thank God, you're all right!" the golfer answers in relief. "I don't want anything. I'm glad you're okay, and I apologize. I didn't mean to hit you." And the golfer walks off.

"What a nice guy," the leprechaun says to himself. "But it was fair and square that he got me, and I have to do something for him. I'll give him three things I would want --- a great golf game, all the money he ever needs, and a fantastic sex life."

A year goes by (as it does in jokes like this) and the golfer is back, hits another bad ball into the woods and finds the leprechaun waiting for him.

"'Twas me that made ye hit the ball here," the little guy says. "I wanted to ask ye, how's yer golf game?"

"That's the first bad ball I've hit in a year! I'm a famous international golfer now," the golfer answers. "By the way, it's good to see you're all right."

"Oh, I'm fine now, thakee. I did that fer yer golf game. And tell me, how's yer money?"

"Why, I win fortunes in golf. But if I need cash, I just reach in my pocket and pull out $100 bills all day long."

"I did that fer ye. And how's yer sex life?"

"The golfer blushes, turns his head away in embarrassment, and says shyly, "Errr, all right, I suppose." "C'mon, c'mon now. I'm wanting to know if I did a good job. How many times a day?" Blushing even more, the golfer whispers, "Once -- sometimes twice a week."

"What!" says the leprechaun in shock. "That's all? Once or twice a week?"

"Well," says the golfer, "I figure that's not too bad for a Catholic priest in a small parish."

"That's what I'm here to be tellin' ya, Brenda. There was an accident down at the Guinness brewery..."

"It was terrible, Brenda. He fell into a vat of Guinness Stout and drowned."

"Oh my dear Jesus! But you must tell me true, Tim. Did he at least go quickly?"

"Well, no Brenda... no.? Fact is, he got out three times to pee."

As the couple is looking somewhat puzzled at the picture, the Irish artist walks by and says, "Can Ihelp you with this painting? I'm the artist who painted it."

The man says "Well, we like the painting but don't understand why you have 3 African men on a bench, and the one in the middle has a pink penis, while the
other two have a black penis."

The Irish artist says, "Oh you are misinterpreting the painting. They're not African men, they are Irish coal miners and the one in the middle went home for lunch."

Then the Irishman says, "Aye, this is a nice bar, but where I come from, back in Dublin, there's a better one. At MacDougal's, you buy a drink, you buy another drink, and MacDougal himself will buy your third drink!"

The others agree that sounds like a nice place.

"Wow!" say the other two. "That's fantastic! Did that actually happen to you?"

"Well, no, but it happened to my sister!"

In Ireland there is a mental institution that every year picks two of its most reformed patients and questions them. If they get the questions right they are free to leave.

This year the two lucky paitents were Patty and Mike.

They were called down to the office and left there by the orderly. They were told to wait as the doctor got their files. The doctor came out and motioned for Patty to come in for her questioning.

When Patty came into the office she was instructed to sit in the seat across from the doctor."Patty, you know the tradition of this institution so I imagine you know why you are here. You will be asked two questions, and if you get them right, you will be free to go. Do you understand all that you have been told?" said the doctor with a rather sly grin.

Patty nodded, and the doctor began to question her.The first question was this:

"Patty, if I was to poke out one of your eyes, what would happen?"

"I would be half blind of course," Patty answered without much thought.

"What would happen if I poked out the other eye?"

"I would be completely blind," said Patty knowing that she had just gotten her freedom.

The doctor then sent her outside while he drew up the paperwork and accessed Mike's files.

When Patty got into the waiting room however, she told Mike what the questions would be and what the correct answers were.

The doctor calls in Mike and he followed the same procedure that he had with Patty.

"Mike, the first question is what would happen if I cut off your ear?"

"I would be blind in one eye," he said remembering what he had been told.

This received a perplexed look from the doctor but he just simply asks the other question so that he could figure out what the man was thinking.

"Mike, what would happen if I cut off your other ear?"

"I would be completely blind," he answered with a smile as if he knew he had passed.

But then the doctor asked him what his reasoning was, and Mike said flatly, "Me hat would fall down over me eyes."

Shortly, he received this reply, "For HEAVEN'S SAKE, Dad, don't dig up that garden, that's where I buried the GUNS!"

At 4 A.M. the next morning, a dozen British soldiers showed up and dug up the entire garden, without finding any guns.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and asking him what to do next. His son's reply was: "Now plant your potatoes, Dad. It's the best I could do at this time."

Saddam Hussein was sitting in his office wondering whom to invade next
when his telephone rang.

"Hallo, Mr. Hussein!," a heavily accented voice said. "This is Paddy down at the Harp Pub in County Sligo, Ireland. I am ringing to inform you that weare officially declaring war on you!"

"Well, Paddy," Saddam replied, "This is indeed important news! How big isyour army?" "Right now," said Paddy, after a moment's calculation, "there is myself, my cousin Sean, my next door neighbor Seamus, and the entire dart team from the pub. That makes eight!"

Saddam paused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have one million men in my army waiting to move on my command."

"Begorra!", said Paddy. "I'll have to ring you back!" Sure enough, the
next day, Paddy called again. "Mr. Hussein, the war is still on! We have managed to acquire some infantry equipment!"

"And what equipment would that be, Paddy?" Saddam asked.

"Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor."

Saddam sighed. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 16,000 tanks and
14,000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I've increased my army to 1-1/2 million since we last spoke."

"Saints preserve us!" said Paddy. "I'll have to get back to you." Sure
enough, Paddy rang again the next day. "Mr. Hussein, the war is still on! We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We've modified Harrigan's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Pub have joined us as well!"

Saddam was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you Paddy, that I have 10,000 bombers and 20,000 fighter planes. My military complex is surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I've increased my army to TWO MILLION!"

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!", said Paddy, "I'll have to ring you back."

Sure enough, Paddy called again the next day. "Top o'the mornin', Mr. Hussein! I am sorry to tell you that we have had to call off the war."

"I'm sorry to hear that," said Saddam. "Why the sudden change of heart?

"Well," said Paddy, "we've all had a long chat over a bunch of pints, and decided there's just no way we can feed two million prisoners."

God Bless the Irish!

Murphy was driving the horse and trap home from the pub on a warm summer's evening. Beside him sat Toby the labrador, great guard dog and constant friend. Suddenly the still of the evening was rent by a tremendous engine noise and round the tight bend in the country lane came a huge Mercedes car doing at least seventy miles an hour. Behind the wheel sat a red-faced Texan who chewed a fat cigar and drummed his fat fingers on the dashboard in time to the ear-splitting quadrophonic car radio. Too late the American realised he couldn't pass Murphy and the cart on the narrow tarmac strip - too late he realised he should have braked thirty yards ago.

Too late the Mercedes car smashed into the cart scattering horse, dog and Murphy to various points of the compass.

As Murphy lay in a daze bemoaning his fate, he saw the Texan go over to the stricken horse. Realising its legs were broken the Yank drew out a .45 pistol and shot the beast dead. Going over to Toby the dog, it was obvious that its back was broken - 'bang', a second shot rang out, ending Toby's misery.

With that the big Texan came over to Murphy.

'Hey buddy, are you all right?' he asked.

'As God is my judge,' muttered ashen-faced Murphy, 'I've never felt better in my life!'

They pulled the man over and asked him if he had been drinking that evening.

"Aye,so I have.'Tis Friday, you know,so me and the lads stopped by the pub where I had six or seven pints. And then there was something called "Happy Hour"and they served these mar-gar-itos which are quite good.I had four or five o'those. Then I had to drive me friend Mike home and O'course I had to go in for a couple of Guiness - couldn't be rude,ye know. Then I stopped
on the way home to get another bottle for later .."And the man
fumbled around in his coat until he located his bottle of whiskey, which he held up for inspection.

The officer sighed, and said,"Sir,I'm afraid I'll need you to
step out of the car and take a breathalyzer test."

Indignantly, the man said,"Why? Don't ye believe me???!!!" [thumbsup]

John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said,"Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!" That won him the top prize for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife, Mary,"I won the prize for the best toast of the night." She said, "Aye,what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife."

"Oh that is very nice indeed,John!" Mary said.

The next day,Mary ran into one of John's toasting buddies on the street corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said,"John won the prize, the other night, with a toast about you,Mary."

She said,"Aye and I was a bit surprised me self! You know,he's only been there twice! Once he fell asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him come." [Big Grin]

One St. Patrick's Day, an Irishman and his leprechaun went to the local bar to celebrate. The Irishman sat at one end of the bar, placed the leprechaun up on the bar,and ordered a green beer for each of them.

After finishing the first beer, the little leprechaun walked
across the top of the bar down to the other end and went
"PFFFFFFFT!!!",squirting fluid from his cheeks onto the face of an Englishman sitting there. The leprechaun then ran as fast as he could back down to the other end of the bar to rejoin the Irishman.

The Irishman ordered two more green beers, and when they had
finished those the leprechaun went back down the top of the bar to the other end, went "PFFFFFFFT!!!" again into the Englishman's face, and scampered back down to the Irishman.

The Englishman wiped his face off, pulled out a knife, and
said,"If that little fucker tries that again,I'm going to cut
his dick off!"

"You can't do that,"said the bartender. "That's a leprechaun.

"I've been waiting all year for this holiday so I could get some color," he said. "And I'm going to get it - even if it's blue!" [Big Grin]

You might be a Leprechaun if...

When you see a rainbow, you get a greedy little look in your eye. (Arrrr, there's me pot o' gold!)

In your cupboard -- nothing but Lucky Charms cereal.

Every time you get your paycheck, you convert it into gold coins and bury it somewhere.

You insist on dancing a jig on your way to work each morning to the embarrassment of all your friends.

You've been under a rock for the past few years.

You just despise fairies. ("Wing Envy" if you ask me!)

You try to pick up women by saying "Ah, lassie, you have dazzling kneecaps, you do."

Around St. Patrick's Day, you stock up on Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's.

When you say something is "magically delicious," it really is.

And the number one way you can tell you might be a Leprechaun:

You're three feet tall, Irish, have red hair, cuss, drink and wear green a lot! [Big Grin]

An Irishman who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the road. A cop pulls him over. "So," says the cop to the driver, where have ya been?"

"Why, I've been to the pub of course," slurs the drunk.

"Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening."

"I did all right," the drunk says with a smile.

"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms across his chest, "that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"

"Oh, thank heavens," sighs the drunk. "For a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf." [Big Grin]

"That's what I'm here to be telling ya, Brenda. There was an accident down at the Guinness brewery..."

"Oh, God no!" cries Brenda. "Please don't tell me."

"I must, Brenda. Your husband Shamus is dead and gone. I'm sorry."

Finally, she looked up at Tim. "How did it happen, Tim?"

"It was terrible, Brenda. He fell into a vat of Guinness Stout and drowned."

"Oh my dear Jesus! But you must tell me true, Tim. Did he at least go quickly?"

"Well, Brenda.. no. In fact, he got out three times to pee." [Big Grin]

IRISH ROOTS

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, was greatly agitated with all the negative "Irish" humor that seemingly flourished everywhere. Examples: 'Dumb Mick' ~ 'Potato Farmers' ~ 'Drunken Irish,' and many not worthy of repeating. The Lord mayor decided that he would employ a staff to search the world over to, "Once and for all find the 'true root beginnings' of the Irish people, and announce those findings to the world." Such a staff was hired, and money was no object. Time was important, however, to satisfy the negativity surrounding the Irish people once and for all! The learned people on the search staff scoured the records of the world. After 15 months of intense research, the leader of the search staff reported to The Lord Mayor that he had found the true roots of the Irish people and was prepared to present those findings to His Honor. The Lord Mayor decided he would hear the findings at the same time the world would hear the answer. Worldwide television and news media representatives were summoned for the reporting of the finding of the 'true roots of the Irish people.' The date and time was set for the presentation. The Lord Mayor gave a brief explanation for the reason of the findings, and introduced the leader of the search staff. The Leader of the Search Staff, thanked the Lord Mayor, and announced to the world, "We left no records unturned, and we have determined that the beginnings of the Irish People, can be accurately traced to the Island of Crete. (ss)

Therefore, The Irish People can be called ex-Cretians!" [Big Grin]

An Irishman's Life Philosophy

"In life, there are only two things to worry about, either you are well, or you are sick. If you are well, there is nothing to worry about, but if you are sick, you have two things to worry about; either you will live, or you will die. If you live, there is nothing to worry about, if you die, you have two things to worry about; either you will go to heaven or to hell. If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about, but if you go to hell, you'll be so busy shaking hands with your friends, you won't have time to worry!" [Big Grin]

They get into Mick's van and drive until they reach a cliff with a 500ft drop.

"Dis looks loike a grand place", says Mick. He then takes the two birds out of the bag, places them on his shoulders and jumps off the cliff.

Paddy watches as his mate drops off the edge and goes straight down for a few seconds followed by 'Splat'.

As Paddy looks over the edge of the cliff he shakes his head and says, "Fock Dat, dis budgie jumpin' is too fockin dangerous for me..."

Part Two A few minutes later, Seamus approaches. He too has been to the pet shop and is carrying the familiar 'pepper bag'. Part Three After a few minutes, Sean strolls up. He too has been to the pet shop walks up with his 'pepper bag'. Instead of a parrot he pulls a chicken out of the bag and launches himself off the cliff with the usual result.

Irish Blessings

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

May you live as long as you want,
And never want as long as you live.

Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget
The friends that proved untrue.
But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

Always remember to forget
The troubles that passed away.
But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

May the saddest day of your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past.

May the roof above us never fall in.
And may the friends gathered below it never fall out.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.

May there be a generation of children
On the children of your children.

May you live to be a hundred years,
With one extra year to repent!

May the Lord keep you in His hand
And never close His fist too tight.

May your neighbors respect you,
Trouble neglect you,
The angels protect you,
And heaven accept you.

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire -
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!

May God be with you and bless you,
May you see your children's children,
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May God grant you many years to live,
For sure He must be knowing
The earth has angels all too few
And heaven is overflowing.

May peace and plenty be the first
To lift the latch to your door,
And happiness be guided to your home
By the candle of Christmas.

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

A Wedding Prayer

By the power that Christ brought from heaven,
mayst thou love me.
As the sun follows its course,
mayst thou follow me.
As light to the eye,
as bread to the hungry,
as joy to the heart,
may thy presence be with me,
oh one that I love,
'til death comes to part us asunder

Irish Curses

May those who love us love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

May the enemies of Ireland never meet a friend.

May the curse of Mary Malone and her nine blind illegitimate children chase you so far over the hills of Damnation that the Lord himself can't find you with a telescope.

May you melt off the earth like snow off the ditch.

May his pipe never smoke, may his teapot be broke
And to add to the joke, may his kettle ne’er boil,
May he keep to the bed till the hour that he’s dead,
May he always be fed on hogwash and boiled oil,
May he swell with the gout, may his grinders fall out,
May he roll howl and shout with the horrid toothache,
May the temples wear horns, and the toes many corns,
Of the monster that murdered Nell Flaherty’s drake.

May his spade never dig may his sow never pig
May each hair on his wig be well thrashed with a flail
May his door have no latch, may his house have no thatch,
May his turkey not hatch, may the rats eat his meat
May every old fairy, from Cork to Dunleary,
Dip him snug and airy in river or lake,
Where the eel and the trout may feed on the snout
Of the monster that murdered Neill Falheerty’s drake

Ireland Declares War on France

Jacques Chirac, The French President, is sitting in his office when his telephone rings. "Hallo, Mr. Chirac!" a heavily accented voice said. "This is Paddy Down at the Harp Pub in County Clare, Ireland. I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on ye!"

"Well, Paddy," Chirac replied, "This is indeed important news! How big is your army?"

"Right now," says Paddy, after a moment's calculation, "there is meself, me Cousin Sean, me next door neighbour Seamus, and the entire darts team from the pub. That makes eight!"

Chirac paused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100,000 men in my army waiting to move on my command."

"Begoora!" says Paddy. "I'll have to ring you back."

Sure enough, the next day, Paddy calls again. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on. We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!"

"And what equipment would that be Paddy?" Chirac asks.

"Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor," answers Paddy.

Chirac sighs amused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 6,000 tanks and 5,000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I have increased my army to 150,000 since we last spoke."

"Saints preserve us!" says Paddy. "I'll have to get back to you."

Sure enough, Paddy rings again the next day. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on! We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We have modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Pub have joined us as well!"

Chirac was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes. My military bases are surrounded by laser-guided, surface- to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I have increased my army to 200,000!"

"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!" says Paddy, "I will have to ring you back."

Sure enough, Paddy calls again the next day. "Top o' the mornin', Mr. Chirac! I am sorry to inform you that we have had to call off the war."

"Really? I am sorry to hear that," says Chirac. "Why the sudden change of heart?"

"Well," says Paddy, "we had a long chat over a few jars of Guinness, and decided there is no foostering way we can feed 200,000 prisoners." [Big Grin]

An elderly Irishman lay dying in his bed.

While suffering the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favourite cheese scones wafting up the stairs.

He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort, Gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs. With laboured breath, he leaned against the doorframe, gazing Into the kitchen.

Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table were dozens of his favourite cheese scones.

Was it heaven? Or was it one final act of heroic love from his devoted Irish wife of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man?

Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself towards the table, landing on his knees in a rumpled posture. His parched lips parted, he could almost taste the cheese scone before it was in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life. The aged and withered hand trembled on its way to the nearest scone at the edge of the table, when his hand was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife . . . . . . . . "Fuck Off!! ", she said, "They're for the funeral" [Big Grin]

I know that McGlynn had a hat just like me hat, and I knew that McGlynn come to church every Sunday.I also knew that McGlynn had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of church. So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."

The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that you didn't steal McGlynn's hat. What changed your mind?"

Murphy said, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal McGlynn's hat."

The priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; "After I talked
about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' you decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell, right?"

Murphy shook his head and said, "No, Father, after you talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat." [Big Grin]

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day Into a Belfast pub comes Paddy Murphy, looking like he'd just been run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his face is cut and bruised and he's walking with a limp.

"What happened to you?" asks Sean, the bartender.

"Jamie O'Conner and me had fight," says Paddy.

"That little shit, O'Conner," says Sean,"He couldn't do that to you, he must have had something in his hand."

"That he did," says Paddy, "a shovel is what he had, and a terrible lickin' he gave me with it."

"Well," says Sean, "you should have defended yourself, didn't you have something in your hand?"

"That I did," said Paddy. "Mrs. O'Conner's breast, and a thing of beauty it was, but useless in a fight." [Big Grin]

The bilingual ones, however, could prove challenging. Once, in Dublin, Mike's dad said, "Quick, Mike, what's the street coming up?"

During a trip back to Ireland to visit her parents, my wife decided to take the local train to Dublin from the town of Bray.

Kate arrived at the station a few minutes after the hour and assumed she had missed the 1:00 p.m. train, but was pleasantly surprised to see it still at the station when she rounded the corner.

At the ticket counter, the two agents were engaged in animated conversation at the back and ignored her presence at the window. By the time one of them reluctantly turned to her, the train was leaving.

Angry at being ignored, Kate told him that she could have caught the train if they had been more concerned with customer service.

The attendant looked at her in some surprise and replied:
"Sure, I don't understand your problem.

If the train had left on time, you would have missed it anyway."

I enjoyed my trip to Ireland except for the grey-black, narrow, relentlessly winding roads. I steered the little rented car around one blind turn after another, between seemingly endless tunnels of stone fences and tight-to-the-road hedges. At one point I stopped to pick up a hitchhiker and complained, "I don't see how anyone can drive to a party at night, have even one drink and get home again safely on these roads."

"Ah, well, you see," he replied, "they don't usually come home till daylight." [Big Grin]

The following is an exchange of correspondence between a customer and the Irish Railway:

Gentlemen,

I have been riding trains daily for the last two years, and the service on your line seems to be getting worse every day.I am tired of standing in the aisle all the time on a 14-mile trip. I think the transportation system is worse than that enjoyed by people 2,000 years ago.

Yours truly,

Patrick Finnegan

**************************************

Dear Mr. Finnegan,

We received your letter with reference to the shortcomings of our service and believe you are somewhat confused in your history. The only mode of transportation 2,000 years ago was by foot.

Sincerely,

Larnrod Eireann

Gentlemen,

I am in receipt of your letter, and I think you are the ones who are confused in your history. If you will refer to the Bible, Book of David, 9th Chapter, you will find that Balaam rode to town on his ass. That, gentlemen,is something I have not been able to do on your train in the last two years! After the gulf war all the oil fires in Kuwait except one had been put out and this one resisted all attempts. Finally someone said that the only man who could put it out was Red Adair, it would be expensive but worth it. They contacted Red who said that he was unable to help because he was busy with a big fire in Venezuela but his Irish cousin, Green Adair who lived in Dublin, was just as good at this sort of work.

They rang Green Adair who agreed to put the fire out for them, he would be there within 12 hours and it would cost $500,000 US. It was agreed and eleven and a half hours later a C130 landed in the desert alongside the fire, a big fire truck rolled out of the back and without stopping gathered speed and drove straight into the fire.

After a short while the fire went out and the truck came out the other side. It drove up to the assembled crowd and coasted slowly to a halt. Green Adair got out and was greeted by the chairman of the company. He offered his congratulations for having done exactly as he said he would, arriving within 12 hours and putting the fire out.

The chairman then said " here is your $500,000 dollars and just out of interst what are you going to do with it ?". Green replied " the first thing I'm going to do is get the brakes on that bloody truck fixed". [Big Grin]

Michael staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Francis. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary Anne.

He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell, Michael sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning, Michael woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Mary Anne staring at him from across the room.

She said, "You were drunk again last night weren't you?"

Michael said, "Why you say such a mean thing?"

"Well," Mary Anne said, "it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly.....it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror. [Big Grin]

An American golfer playing in Ireland hooked his drive into the woods. Looking for his ball, he found a little Leprechaun flat on his back, a big bump on his head and the golfer's ball beside him. Horrified, the golfer got his water bottle from the cart and poured it over the little guy, reviving him.

"Arrgh! What happened?" the Leprechaun asked.

"I'm afraid I hit you with my golf ball," the golfer says.

"Oh, I see. Well, ye got me fair and square. Ye get three wishes, so whaddya want?"

"Thank God, you're all right!" the golfer answers in relief.
"I don't want anything, I'm just glad you're OK, and I apologize." And the golfer walks off.

"What a nice guy," the Leprechaun says to himself. I have to do something for him. I'll give him the three things I would want.. a great golf game, all the money he ever needs, and a fantastic sex life."

A year goes by (as it does in stories like this) and the American golfer is back. On the same hole, he again hits a bad drive into the woods and the Leprechaun is there waiting for him.

"Twas me that made ye hit the ball here," the little guy says. "I just want to ask ye, how's yer golf game?"

"My game is fantastic!" the golfer answers. I'm an internationally famous golfer now." He adds, "By the way, it's good to see you're all right."

"Oh, I'm fine now, thankye. I did that fer yer golf game, you know. And tell me, how's yer money situation?"

"Why, it's just wonderful!" the golfer states. "When I need cash, I just reach in my pocket and pull out $100.00 bills I didn't even know were there!"

"I did that fer ye also." And tell me, how's yer sex life?"

The golfer blushes, turns his head away in embarrassment, and says shyly,"It's OK.""C'mon, c'mon now," urged the Leprechaun , "I'm wanting to know if I did a good job.How many times a week?"

Blushing even more, the golfer looks around then whispers,
"Once, sometimes twice a week."

"What??" responds the Leprechaun in shock. "That's all? Only once or twice a week?"

"Well," says the golfer, "I figure that's not bad for a Catholic priest in a small parish." [Big Grin]

The Irish Lass

As soon as she had finished parochial school, a bright young girl named Lena shook the dust of Ireland off her shoes and made her way to New York where before long, she became a successful performer in show business.

Eventually she returned to her home town for a visit and on a Saturday night went to confession in the church which she had always attended as a child. In the confessional Father Sullivan recognized her and began asking her about her work. She explained that she was an acrobatic dancer, and he wanted to know what that meant.

She said she would be happy to show him the kind of thing she did on stage. She stepped out of the confessional and within sight of Father Sullivan, she went into a series of cartwheels, leaping splits, handsprings and back flips.

Kneeling near the confessional, waiting their turn, were two middle-aged ladies. They witnessed Lena's acrobatics with wide eyes, and one said to the other:

"Will you just look at the penance Father Sullivan is givin' out this night, and me without me bloomers on!"

"Irish Proverbs"

A kind word never broke anyone's mouth.

A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.

It is better to be born lucky than rich.

A lie travels farther than the truth.

An old broom knows the dirty corners best.

Put silk on a goat, and it's still a goat.

A friend's eye is a good mirror.

It's no use carrying an umbrella if your shoes are leaking.

God is good, but never dance in a small boat.

Even a small thorn causes festering.

Marriages are all happy its having breakfast together that causes all the trouble.

Every dog is brave on his own doorstep.

You'll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind.

You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -
This is a true story of a lucky little 4- leaf clover that begins during World War II.

In 1941 with the world at war, many turned their thoughts to wishes of good luck and special momentos to carry them through those difficult times. Such was the case for Lela Remington, a U.S. Army nurse in training in Mississippi. She would be leaving for duty abroad and wanted to send her sister and brother-in-law a special greeting for their first wedding anniversary. She picked a 4-leaf clover greeting card to send to Gayle and Dee McCormick, then living in Michigan. The card was treasured and safely tucked away to preserve those special wishes.

Time passed, the war ended and life returned to normal for many years. Then in 1995, something unusual happened to the clover. Gayle passed away, Lela had died earlier and no one else knew of the sentimental lucky charm, until it was discovered among Gayle's personal momentos.

The ironic twist to this story is that the card was returned to Gayle's niece, Dandy Safko, who with her husband are the present owners of "Clover Specialty Company" where the clover on the card was grown 54 years earlier.

The card, still in the original envelope, bearing a 3¢ stamp, postmarked September 29, 1941 from Jackson, Miss., has been safely tucked away in the company's scrapbook, which is full of testimonial letters from people all over the world with personal stories of the lucky 4-leaf clover.

Gayle's lucky little clover had returned home. [Smile]

After having dug to a depth of 10 meters last year, Scottish scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, English scientists dug to a depth of 20 meters, and shortly after, headlines in the English newspapers read: "English archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the Scots."

One week later, "The Kerrymen," a southwest Irish newsletter, reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 meters in peat bog near Tralee, Paddy O'Droll, a self taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing.
Paddy has therefore concluded that 300 years ago Ireland had already gone wireless."

It was Paddy and Seamus giving the motorcycle a ride on a brisk autumn day. After a wee bit, Paddy who was sitt'n behind Seamus on the bike began to holler ..."Seamus ... Seamus ... the wind is cutt'n me chest out!"

"Well, Paddy my lad," said Seamus, "why don't you take your jacket off and turn it from front to back ... that'll block the wind for you."

So Paddy took Seamus' advice and turned his jacket from front to back and got back on the bike and the two of them were off down the road again. After a bit, Seamus turned to talk to Paddy and was horrified to see that Paddy was not there. Seamus immediately turned the bike around and retraced their route. When after a short time he came to a turn and saw a bunch of farmers standing around Paddy who was sitting on the ground.

"T'anks be to heaven, is he alright?" Seamus hailed to the farmers. "Well," said one of the farmers, " he was alright when we found him here .. but since we turned his head back to front .. he hasn't said a word since!" [Eek!]

Pat said, "Well, I have and I haven't." His friend asked, "Shure, and what d'ye mean by that?"

Pat said, "It's like this, y'see...I saw a chap who I thought was Mulligan, and he saw a chap that he thought was me. And when we got up to one another...it was neither of us." [Big Grin]

Blessings! Always...

May your blessings out number the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.

May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and the road downhill all the way to your door.

May your troubles be less and your blessing be more, And nothing but happiness come through your door.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, May good luck pursue you each morning and night

May there always be work for your hands to do, May your purse always hold a coin or two.

May the sun always shine warm on your windowpane, May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.

May the hand of a friend always be near you, And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you!

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you. [Big Grin]

AN IRISHMAN'S PHILOSOPHY

There are only two things to worry about: Either you are well or you are sick. If you are well, then there is nothing to worry about.

But if you are sick, there are two things to worry about: Either you will get well or you will die. If you get well, then there is nothing to worry about.

But if you die, there are two things to worry about: Either you will go to heaven or you will go to hell. If you go to heaven, then you have nothing to worry about.

But if you go to hell, you'll be so damn busy shaking hands with all your friends, then you won't have time to worry! [Big Grin]

Curran said to Father O'Leary, the wittiest priest of his day, "I wish you were St. Peter."

"Why?" asked O'Leary.

"Because," said Curran, "you would have the keys of heaven, and could let me in."

"It would be better for you," said O'Leary, "that I had the keys of the other place, for then I could let you out." [Big Grin]

An Irishman is sitting at a bar in New York City and looks at his watch several times in the space of a few minutes.

The woman sitting nearby notices this and asks, 'Is your date running late ?'

'No,' he replies, 'I have this state-of-the-art watch. I was just testing it.'

The intrigued woman says, 'A state-of-the-art watch? What's so special about it ?'

The Irishman explains, 'It uses alpha waves to talk to me telepathically.'

The lady says, 'What's it telling you now?'

'Well, it says you're not wearing any panties.'

The woman giggles and replies, 'Well, it must be broken because I am wearing panties!'

The Irishman smirks, taps his watch and says, 'Bloody thing's running about an hour fast. Can I buy you a drink ? [Big Grin]

Flynn staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy.

He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary.

Managing not to yell, Flynn sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding.

He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw blood.
He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning, Flynn woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Mary staring at him from across the room.

She said, 'You were drunk again last night weren't you?'

Flynn said, 'Why you say such a mean thing?'

'Well,' Mary said, 'it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house,it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly .....it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall mirror. [Big Grin]

Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fainted when he saw him. Murphy had never been seen in Church in his life.

After Mass, the priest caught up with Murphy and said, "Murphy, I am so glad ya decided to come to Mass, what made ya come?"

Murphy said, "I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat. I know that McGlynn had a hat just like me hat, and I knew that McGlynn comes to Church every Sunday. I also knew that McGlynn had to take off his hat during Mass and figured he would leave it in the back of Church. So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."

The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that ya didn't steal McGlynn's hat. What changed your mind?"

Murphy said, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 Commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal McGlynn's hat after all."

The priest gave Murphy a big smile and said, "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' ya decided you would rather do without the hat than burn in Hell, right?"

Murphy slowly shook his head and said, "No, Father, after ya talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery', I remembered where I left me hat."

Shortly after take-off on an outbound evening Air Lingus flight from Dublin to Boston, the lead flight attendant nervously made the following painful announcement in her lovely Irish brogue: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm so very sorry, but it appears that there has been a terrible mix-up by our catering service. I don't know how this has happened, but we have 103 passengers on board, and unfortunately, we received only 40 dinner meals. I truly apologize for this mistake and inconvenience.”

When the muttering of the passengers had died down, she continued, "Anyone who is kind enough to give up their meal so that someone else can eat will receive free, unlimited drinks for the duration of our 5 hour flight.”

Her next announcement came about 2 hours later: "If anyone is hungry, we still have 40 dinners available."

A painter by the name of Murphy, while not a brilliant scholar, was a highly gifted portrait artist.

Over a short number of years, his fame grew and soon people from all over Ireland were coming to the town of Miltown Malbay, in County Clare, to get him to paint their likenesses.

One day, a beautiful young English woman arrived at his house in a stretch limo and asked if he would paint her in the nude. This being the first time anyone had made such a request he was a bit perturbed, particularly when the woman told him that money was no object; in fact, and she was willing to pay up to 10,000 Euros.

Not wanting to get into any marital strife, he asked her to wait while he went into the house to confer with Mary, his wife. They talked much about the Rightness and the Wrongness of it. It was hard to make the decision but finally his wife agreed, on one condition.

In a few minutes he returned. "T'would be me pleasure to paint yer portrait, missus," he said. "The wife says it's okay. I'll paint you in the nude all right; but I have to at least leave me socks on, so I have a place to wipe me brushes."

A car full of Irish nuns is stopped at a traffic light in downtown Dublin when a bunch of rowdy drunks pull up alongside of them.

"Hey, show us yer teats, ya bloody penguins." shouts one of the drunks.

Quite shocked, Mother Superior turns to Sister Mary Immaculata and says, "I don't think they know who we are; show them your cross."

Sister Mary Immaculata rolls down her window and shouts, "Piss off, ya fookin' little wankers, before I come over there and rip yer balls off."

She then rolls up her window, looks back at Mother Superior quite innocently, and asks, "Did that sound cross enough?"

While reading an article last night about fathers and sons, memories came flooding back to the time I took me son out for his first pint. Off we went to our local pub only two blocks from the cottage. I got him a Guinness. He didn't like it, so I drank it. Then I got him a Kilkenny. He didn't like that either, so I drank it. Finally, I thought he might like some Harp Lager? He didn't. I drank it. I thought maybe he'd like whisky better than beer so we tried a Jameson's; nope! In desperation, I had him try that rare Redbreast Ireland's finest whisky. He wouldn't even smell it. What could I do but drink it! By the time I realized he just didn't like to drink, I was so shit-faced I could hardly push his stroller back home!!!
