The background burst looks a little like the SDDS snipe

Gord said in the previous posting....
"The background burst looks a little like the SDDS snipe"

I sure hope this SDDS look does not lead to site unreliability!

SDDS? What the hell? You mean the original SDDS trailer? But where's the triangle thingy? Whoever designed these new logos is an idiot!

Oh wait, that would be me

Posted by Gordon McLeod (Member # 33) on 05-02-2001, 11:30 AM:

Okay we go from the SDDS look to the most bizare "the big tape and the big camera "
Next we will see it say Digi-Tech

Mr.Joe was responsible for creating those logos, as always. I'm surprised it took a few days for the first person to say anything about it. They are randomly selected by the server on the fly and will automatically change based upon the element of time. (Of course I didn't use ALL of the ones Joe made, even though they were humorous. )

I am moving this to Yak, since this isn't specifically about film.

Gordon-

You haven't heard uneducated (in the ways of projection) people refer to film as "wow that's big tape" or projectors as "big cameras"? I have all too often. Any ideas for banners? Both humorous and good slogans will be considered.

Joe, what others did you create? If you don't want to display them here, could you email them to me?

I think they are great...

(Although it was me who inspired Bob to go ballistic with the joke-a-thon...I think it should have a 'presented by Film-Tech from an original concept by John Wilson' credit.)

The images are in Brad's possession now, so I'll let him do that.

Trust me John, if you had not started the world's longest thread, Bob Maar would have taken matters into his own hands. He is evil. You just did his dirty work for him.

Ok, here are Joe's other logos that were rejected for front page placement. Read at your own risk (and as always when Joe is involved, with a sense of humor ).

LOL! I sure am glad I asked!

Thanks! I do believe that the first says it all. That one's my favorite!

I think Steve G and I will make up one that will replace the last one saying Changeovers Rule

Posted by Joe Redifer (Member # 3) on 05-03-2001, 07:05 PM:

Gord-

Actually that last one was made SOLEY for the purpose of pissing off Steve Guttag. Or at least make him laugh. But I think it might be easier to piss him off than to make him laugh.

I didn't know you were a changeover freak. But if I were to make a Gordon banner it would have said "Canada Sucks" or "Hockey Sucks" or "What's Up With Those Silly Little Accents They Have Up In Canada" or something equally assinine

No, the Canadian version of the first tag above (F*** YEAH!) would be "F***in Eh!"

Posted by Scott Norwood (Member # 30) on 05-03-2001, 07:39 PM:

Joe: how about "Blame Canada!"

Posted by Joe Redifer (Member # 3) on 05-03-2001, 07:43 PM:

"Blame Canada" is cool, but I want to insult Canada in my own way Any place with censors is ultra-cool

Also, what would we be blaming them for? Film-Tech?

Seriously though, we could use some good slogans.

So Am I the only one here that sees NOTHING but the main login (news) page when I click on Film-Tech? I'm using netscape 4.8 so I can't blame Micro$haft for this one...

Aaron

Posted by Scott Norwood (Member # 30) on 05-03-2001, 08:08 PM:

Hmm...I suppose that either Brad or I could hack the banner-rotation script to send the "Blame Canada" (or whatever) banner only to users whose domain names end in .ca. And send the Technicolor banner only to Technicolor people. And so on, and so forth...

Posted by Brad Miller (Member # 2) on 05-03-2001, 08:31 PM:

Aaron,

Try another browser or another computer and let me know what you see. It is possible that little script I implemented has a glitch on certain browser versions.

Scott,

I agree we need to direct certain welcome pages to certain viewers. I think Mr.Guttag would appreciate a nice big picture of a platter! (It's all in good fun to those who haven't been around. I wouldn't call it "pissing off", but more like "good fun". )

these words as you go to sleep this evening.

PS I love the new Logo's,I applaud you creative people. Keep it up, you make the world go round.

There is no such browser as Netscape 4.8. Netscape's latest is 4.77. Aaron is trying to trick us all! But it works on my Netscape on both Mac and PC. Do you see the "space" where it should be, at the top center of the page? Like an empty frame or an image symbol with a question mark in it? Do you have images turned on (I know, I know, I had to ask). How do you connect to the internet, or more importantly, what speed? I have noticed in the past that sometimes if I connect at low speeds Netscape will ignore images sometimes. Just a thought.

Bob, have you seen the banner created especially for you? If not, get back to the main screen and keep pressing "Reload" or "refresh" until it pops up.

>>There is no such browser as Netscape 4.8. Netscape's latest is 4.77. Aaron is trying to trick us all!<<

I stand corrected. it IS 4.77

I believe images are on

I connect with a DSL line

the space is just that. a blank space.

Aaron

Well if you can see member pictures on the forums then images are on. Can you? Click the blank space on the main page and see what happens (if images are off then this should make it load, but who knows?). Maybe you don't have a helper app set up in the Netscape preferences for JPEGs? Or JPEGs compressed a certain way? To test this go to the picture warehouse page and click on

"Colorado Cinemas Chinese at Arapahoe Crossings 16". Can you see the pictures?

Next click on "Mann Chinese 16". Both of these pages use slightly different file types of JPEG. If one works and not the other, then that is the problem.

On the subject of browsers, AVOID the OMNIWEB browser at all costs. It sucks much ass.

Joe, I just did as you suggested and found the Joke Logo..that is great thank you. I do enjoy a good joke and I hope all registered members will contribute and keep it going.

I have been in and out of the hospital but techer Betsey Breading had sent me an e-mail about it. I didn't know how to find it.

The whole forum is a wonderful experience and I learn somthing new everyday. My sincere thanks to Brad and you Joe and of course Dwayne for making Film-Tech a reality.

Oh, and BTW maybe all readers can help me decide which half of me is Canadian.

Is it:
The top half? The Bottom half?
The right half? The left half?
The front half? The back half?
Is it mixed?
Right leg Canadian? Right foot American?

As you can see, I need some help.

Bob, from what I've seen, most assholes and pricks are american, eh?

Keep out of those hospitals, you might end up being part sponge.

How many of the logos are there? I figure there are about a half-dozen of them, right? I ask because there may be one "lurking" that I haven't seen yet due to the laws of random chance.

Posted by Bob Maar (Member # 763) on 05-04-2001, 10:31 PM:

Jerry, more like a pin cushion. I'll take the sponge anytime.

Have a "Butter Tart" eh! Wish I could buy them here.

The Doc's have taken my beloved martini's away and left me with

So I will be buying a lot of different brands to see what agrees.

Joe,

How about something to the effect of:

"Yes, we CAN rewind the movie!"

"You want us to rewind the movie for you? No problem! Just e-mail Kyle Abel at kyle_abel@hotmail.com and he'll come out and do it for you!"

Dave, You don't need to send, once in awhile my friends and relatives in Canada who know my passion, ship some to me.

They are delicious. A great product of Canada.

The zooming one's ok, but I was kinda enjoying the Film-Tech title page lottery.

I agree with John the Zoom Logo is nice but I like all of the constant reminder quotes that appear. I am
