How popular is Tab cola in the US?It used to be very common here in Australia but has sort of died off, I cant even remember the last time I saw any.
I am just asking this because it appears Julia Roberts is drinking some in the trailer for The Mexican and it made me curious.

Yeah, what Mike said.TAB died in about 1983 in the Atlanta area. I always thought it tasted pretty decent, for a diet drink.
I never liked diet Coke. It is not the Real Thing!

Tab or Fresca had cyclamates & was yanked because it was linked to bladder cancer & made test subjects in different age groups grow antlers or something.

I actually saw TAB cola at an HEB store here in Austin, Tx as recent as 2 months ago. I distintively remember the Pink cans that TAB came in. I will have to revisit the store to see if they still have it or not. I only remember seing 2 six packs of it there.

They still sell it here in Maryland. It is the only drink I know of that still has saccharin in it.

My mother has had diabetes since I was born. She started drinking TAB back then (70's) so subsequently, I was drinking TAB since I was little, however when Diet Coke came along in the early 80's, ('82 i think) she liked that better and switched to it. Thus, I switched to it as well. now I am addicted to it.. Can't go a day without a D.C. I used to joke that when I die, i need to be buried with a couple of 12 packs of D.C. I saw a six pack of TAB at the local Lucky's store about a year ago and bought it just to see if it still tasted like I remember it. It was by far the most hideous disgusting tasting liquid I had put in my mouth in years.
Anyone remember when Diet Coke had Saccarin in it?

I have only been drinking Diet Coke for about 8 years (that's how long I've been diabetic). It sucked ass at first, but I've grown accostumed to it. Now real Coke tastes extremely thick and syrupy to me. I don't have much memory of Saccarin, but Diet Coke now uses Aspertame. There are still a few people who say that aspertame will cause cancer. You just can't win no matter what you do.I would rather not be buried with Diet Coke. People always look at me a bit oddly when I ask for a diet drink, because I am such a skinny f*ck.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but last time I checked, ALL diet drinks served via fountains still have saccharin in them (blended with aspartame in some cases). Something to do with the inability of aspartame to withstand long periods of storage in warm temperatures (it decomposes into methanol, IIRC)... Look at the labels on the bag-in-the-boxes if you don't believe me, there should be a 'saccharin cancer warning' on there somewhere...Aaron
