Hey Joe,
Why not put yourself into Andrew McRae's body. That should make you feel young and stupid again and you could turn him into a decent young whippersnapper. The Evans thing is a bit much for any of us to cope with.

I was wondering how long it would be before Joe tried to look like Brad's picture. So Joe, are you using Photoshop, or do you have some other software that helps you do the morphing?
Posted by Bob Maar (Member # 763) on 06-13-2001, 12:33 PM:
Just suppose Joe is not Joe at all. Notice how his picture keeps changing (or Morphing)
to make him look like someone he is not. It's time to see him Morph into a female body. Change his name to Josephine. Put on a dress and a bonnet.

Just wanted you to know that I may not have the longest hair on my head. However in my picture I am wearing a jacket, which is good because the hair under my arms is 36" long. In addition, my chest hairs are braided and wrapped around my mid section giving me a slight ponch around the waist. If I were to extend them they would measure 6 feet in length. I'd like to try Bobby. The curly hair would be an immense challenge. I'd have to erase ALL of my hair and draw the new hair. Or maybe I'll just get a perm. I would have done Bruce McGee long ago if I had a Holmes or whatever the hell that is to stand by. Unfortunately, I take all of the pictures myself with the camera on timer. I'm not really a fan of GIFs in any way, shape or form. They are limited to 256 colors and that just sucks. Flash is better. But then again I really don't want to annoy anybody with looping animation of ANY kind. It just looks amateur-ish. At least with Flash I can turn off the looping when I design it. GIFs loop forever unless the user does not allow looping.

If you assemble the gif with Adobe ImageReady, you can set the number of times it will loop and how quickly the frames change (among other things). Ironically, I asked Brad about gifs during Saturday night's chat session. Ask him for technical restrictions before you try one for the forum.

Posted by Bobby Henderson (Member # 840) on 07-03-2001, 07:33 PM:
Oh my God. Hehe, Joe, that is one funny morph.Sorry about the masking challenge. Actually, my hair is not really that curly. I think it is just the combination of the hair gel and the "extract" background feature in Adobe Photoshop that made it look a little more rough (and curly) than it realy is.

If you adjust how your palette indexes colors, you can get decent results on a photo with a narrow range of colors. Here's your original jpeg file ...
And here's a gif indexed to 256 perceptual colors with no dithering.
You lose some of your colors when animating if the frames don't have a very close color range. But then, you wouldn't be able to have any fun.
This one stops animating after 8 loops. Hit refresh to run it again.
I get the strange feeling my days are numbered ...

Randy,It's funny how everything changes except the background and the hair. I wonder what the morph between Mark G and my pic of him would look like? Or Pytlak? Oh man.
Adam,
I had to go into PREFERENCES and turn "Animate GIFs" back on just to see that. Some pics do better with 256 colors than others. The "Bobby" pic really doesn't have many colors. But the "Andrew" has more as do a few others. Either way I prefer JPEG and there really is no reason to use GIFs. The only reason to use a GIF is transparency like the "Film-Tech Forums" graphic I created at the top of the page and the emoticons. But for photographs? Nah.
Your days are definitely numbered. Why? I dunno. Just for fun.
Posted by Randy Stankey (Member # 64) on 07-04-2001, 01:21 AM:
I didn't put any points on the background or the hair. The only points I made were on the face and body. Since they are so similar, that's why they didn't change much.Bring on the pics! We'll make one big, long movie of Joe morphing into everybody if you want!

Who the hell is Marty Feldman? I watched the Avs win the Stanley Cup, so perhaps I should know this?
Posted by Bob Maar (Member # 763) on 07-08-2001, 08:01 AM:
Joe,
Marty Feldman was a teriffic character actor who past away some years ago. He could do amazing things with his eyes. I believe he was in some of the Monty Python films.

Bob,For the younger set....the best film to use as an example is
_Young Frankenstein_
Marty played the perfect I-Gore.
There was some Universal film he played in where they used the old Universal logo with the letters going around the planet...Marty would come on stage and take the letters off one at a time with a look at the audience of "see what I have to do" or something.

"Young Frankenstein" definitely had one of Marty Feldman's funniest performances. The gag with the skulls on the shelves showing how long they have been dead, such as 10 years dead, 1 year dead, and then him poking his head into the slot "recently dead" was a riot. He was really funny in Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie."

I should have added, I did this weird photo in reaction to the Avs nerve racking victory. Peter Forsberg got hit so hard in a previous playoff round against the L.A. Kings that his spleen was ruptured. Friends were giving me hell about that (particularly since I have a NHL regulation Peter Forsberg jersey). Everybody thought that was it for the Avs then, but they rolled on through the semi-finals and into the Cup finals against the favored New Jersey Devils. The Avs came back against some serious odds with guys Joe Sakic, Ray Bourque and 3-time Conn/Smythe trophy winner Patrick Roy. Having to win the last two games in a row just made me nervous as hell. I was really happy to see them win.

Marty Feldman was simply amazing. As well as his comedy acting and unique singing voice he wrote some of the best radio comedy shows of the 1960's such as Round The Horne.
Take a look at his official website http://www.cmgww.com/stars/feldman/links.html
Oh by the way for those of you that don't know radio is TV with the brightness turned right down

The way the Pat& Mike routine used to go in the US between TV & radio engineers was:
"You know what radio is, don't you? Broken TV."
"Television gives you cancer."
The two groups did not mix well.
I *really* enjoyed Feldman's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste".
It looked good in the theater, too.

Wow, I'm surprised anyone noticed that reload trick so fast. All I can say is beware of what Joe will do next. But even more importantly, those of you who haven't yet sent in your picture, beware of what Joe will do next! Send in your picture quick. My current picture was taken last night with me holding the camera with my left hand (and a slight crop utilized for composition). No, the youthful appearance is not the FilmGuard at work, that's something else I've been working on.
I'm 31 and counting.

Yikes, Brad! You look like a kid!! Are you sure that you are not 12? :OMaybe I should smear FG on my face. Maybe it would fill the cracks. No, I cant do that. FG costs more than the concrete mix that I use now.
Michael Brown: your new image makes you look like you belong in a Church!
I need to come up with something new, myself. Comments? Be cruel!

Marty Feldman is great in Young Frankenstein, but my favorite line from the movie is:Frankenstein (looking at huge castle doors): "What knockers!!"
Inga (embarassed): "Thank you, Doctor."
--------
And of course the scene where Igor won't let Frankenstein out of the room after he locks himself in with the monster. Classic!

This is a picture of Joe's 4-dimensional counterpart (actually only a 3-dimensional cross-section (if this makes no sense to you, you must read the book "The Boy Who Reversed Himself" by William Sleator. Actually, strike everything from the beginning of this parenthasis to the first comma(this poster also recommends reading "Into the Dream" and "House of Stairs"))
