I know we have a few Victorian readers to these forums so the following will be of interest to them.
Reading Cinemas has this week opened its new cinema complex at Chirnside Park in the east of Melbourne. This has really put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Readings is offering A$8.50 sessions currently at their new cinemas and only A$15.50 for sessions in their new Regency Cinelounges. Already Hoyts Croydon (nearby) has countered with $6 tickets for all sessions. Village Boronia has sessions for $8.50
During the week I rang up Village cinemas and asked how much their Gold Class cinemas cost. They charge about A$27 for a seat although discounted seats of about A$18 were available before 5PM during the week. Here's the interesting part though - munchies are extra!
By contrast A$15.50 at Readings gets you a cinema ticket plus complimentary popcorn, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Not to mention a comfy reclinable armchair. This offer is valid till September. Better still its only $13.50 before 5PM.
