I notice on the cable news TV stations (not regular TV stations like CBS, NBC and ABC) they will not stop talking about the Anthrax situation. Problem is, they repeat the same things over and over.. within minutes.. for weeks!I feel they are really making a bad situation worse, almost to the point of criminal neglect. They did it again tonight, so I hadto rant.
If something new happens, well of course report it. I think a 15-min. "Anthrax segment" per hour is enough. Remind people, don't badger them.

Lord help us if Gary Conduit gets anthrax...
I gave up any watching tv news soon after we got tivo. I found on the tivo I'd be skimming past 95% of the junk. I hadn't realized until then how much the pre-commercial teases within the news were keeping me hooked. FWIW, I hadn't thought much of CNN since it was out of Ted's control anyway.

Tivo????? You should get one of those Pioneer DVD RAM recorders instead. It has media you can actually remove and archive! Plus, you don't have to subscribe to anything! What would you do if you just happened to record a news segment covering Elizabeth Taylor's new breat implants that were leaking anthrax which infected Gary Condit who was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky who revealed that Condit could only "perform" whilst listening to an Anthrax CD? With Tivo you'd have to be content to live with just the digital-artifacted copy that resides on its hard drive. With DVD-RAM you can REMOVE the disc, which can be really damn good quality, and put in another disc so you can record the update for the next day! Then you can keep them forever and show them to the aliens when they come and bring Elvis back to us!

If they're going to blow something out of proportion they should be discussing the still lax security at all of the airports and the real possiblility of a small pox attack, either of which is more likely to inflict real damage.
The security at SLC International is still worthless.

Here is what someone needs to do:Take the Aflak commercial (with the duck that says "Aflak") and make him say "Anthrax". Have people say, "You know, there's this disease they keep talking about on the news." Than the duck says "Anthrax". Someone else says, "Yeah, I remember that I need to be careful about my mail because there is something that can be in it." The duck says "Anthrax". And so on.
It would be in poor taste but many people would find it funny simply because the idea is so bad.

Evans, I love that Aflak commercial. Especially the one where his little duck legs are hanging out the bottom of the blanket between his and her legs.
I will be happy to pitch this idea to Madison Avenue.

Evans----- That sounds like a good idea for a Saturday Night Live or MadTV spoof. I'm amazed that neither has done it yet (to my knowledge).

According to the Trenton (NJ) Times, a US scientist said last week that the FBI knows who sent the anthrax but won't go after the perpetrator. Here's a good follow-up story.

........and you believe the Trenton (NJ) Times?

The "World Socialist Website"? They are, for sure, a model of objective and ethical journalism.

Follow-up: The BBC reported 2 nights ago that the anthrax attacks were very likely a CIA covert operation gone awry. This isn't the first time that the CIA has done something evil in order to get what the US gov't wants. The blowback comes much, much later -- and the public rarely if ever is told about it.

All I know is I AM THE MAN was an awesome song.

VH1 had a pretty good documentary on the band Anthrax, their 20 year history and how the post-9/11 attacks have affected them. They were really worried about whether they could go on making music under that name. For 20 years, the name was theirs but no longer. Many New York City rock fans urged the Queens-based thrash-metal band to never change their name. "Don't let them win," is what the fans pleaded. So Anthrax is keeping their name. They're on a tour with Judas Priest this summer and may have a new album out during that time.

Update from Scotland on Sunday, a Scottish "quality" newspaper: The FBI knows who the anthrax suspect is yet is keeping his name a state secret.Another FBI cover-up!

They might have a good reason for it.
If I was after someone who didnt know I was after them, I wouldnt want them to find out.------------------

Well by announcing that they know who it is then I assume the guilty party knows that they are after him/her. Now that person has more time to cover their tracks. Why would they do that? They probably do not know, and are trying to scare the guilty person into making a dumb move so they can catch them.
Surely if they knew who it was he'd be arrested by now. Why wouldn't he? Is the FBI just giving him time to return his videos to Blockbuster so he won't get fined? Nah.... they don't know who it is. The only thing that'll make me change my mind on this is a news headline that pops up real soon saying they've got him.
