Kiwi males heart's sank today with the loss of Anna Kournikova to Anna Smashnova (No I'm not kidding)but in the process she has brought record crowds to the womens Tournament and only missed the final ,when she lost to Russian born (Israel resident) Anna Smashnova in the Semis today , the Kournikova show goes now to Australia where she has a Wild Card entry, believe me this girl can play and has shown great fighting abilities in her 4 matches this week,just seemed to lack some patience at times and made too many unforced errors.

http://onesport.nzoom.com/sport_detail/0,1278,75165-2-49,00.html this shows the showman side with all the sponsors wears ,but what was done to advertise this tournament was aimed directly at the men ,TV adds with a normal game in progress,all eyes following the ball from one side to the other ,except for the men who's eyes were fixed on one side only (Anna's side)so at the game there were guys wearing KFC hats (Kournikova Fan Club) guys wearing Ice Hocky uniforms,things happening here that you would not normally see happen at a womans Tournament here?

The one that won the Final was Smashnova over Panova , Smashnova who beat KourniKova watched by a whole lot of Casanova's.

Yes Melany I am ,between the rain , but all the top seeds have gone, Goran ,Novak ,Chang and others and Tiger only scraped into the golf weekend rounds and kournikova only made the Semis ? There must be something in the water that hampers these top sports people when they get here.
