Yes you read that right. Apparently the two biggest geeks in the world with nothing better to do with their life are already in line...FROM SEATTLE WASHINGTON
It's official, Jeff Tweiten and John Guth of Seattle, WA are the first two guys to be waiting for "Star Wars: EPISODE II Attack of the Clones."
Waiting, outside of the Cinerama movie theatre in Seattle, WA are two dedicated Star Wars fans who will spend over four months on the streets of Seattle, dedicating their lives to a cultural phenomenon that has inspired their hearts and instructed their values throughout their lives. Jeff Tweiten was first to arrive on January 1st, 2002 and was soon accompanied by his friend John Guth.
This four and a half month period will be the longest wait in known record books, for two folks to wait together for a movie. When asked why, "we love Star Wars and I want to create sort of a life art project out of this that can be displayed once this is over with, " says Jeff Tweiten. Jeff continues, "Over the course of the next four months we plan on capturing our adventures and experiences on the streets of Seattle with our cameras and journals. What we do with it after it's all done with...ask us then."
The entire concept was masterminded by Jeff over a year ago, "I wanted to wait in line for two years, but just couldn't do it, so I figured what a great way to start off a new year." John concluded, "when Jeff mentioned the idea to me a year ago, I have to admit, I too thought if was off the wall, but after convincing me and seeing the fun in store I just had to join him."
There will be much more to follow so to keep updated for know, information will be posted on the SSWS website www.SeattleStarWars.Com and a special web site www.WaitingForStarWars.Com will be running soon.

Can't they be arrested for loitering on the theater property or something? How do they eat/sleep/pee/shit? If they leave the "line" to do any of these things, then they are officially "not in the line".

I've never actually wanted to see a movie bad enough to wait in line like that. What tickled me was that the night before the tickets went on sale for Star Wars Episode I at the local Carmike 10, a bunch of my friends waited in line all night to get tickets when the box office opened the next morning. Evidentally, the box office opened at 9 AM the next morning. I thought it would be a good idea to drive to the theatre that morning before going to work to get a ticket, if any were left. All my friends were still there, dressed like Star Wars characters. They had sold out three of the four auditoriums showing Star Wars. I arrived at the theatre at 9:20 AM, walked through them all, went to the box office, and said "One for Star Wars" and got it. I'm sure all my friends felt silly. I made fun of them for a bit before leaving.

I never saw it at a theater at all. It was this kind of moronic behavior that helped me to decide not to go. But only a minor part. After I saw it on DVD I was glad I didn't go. In fact I'd like to get my money back for the DVD. The next one looks/sounds even worse------------------

I'm not familiar with how good or bad the neighborhood is where this Seattle theater is located, but if these guys are going to hang around it 24 hours a day aren't they going to run some kind of risk of getting mugged or just beaten up?

They had this on all the local tv news. Evidently some neighboring businesses have donated food and restroom facilities for these guys. The tv news have also reported that the movie has not even been confirmed to be booked into the theater.
Personally, this new Star Wars movie is just going to be a load of 
anyway.

I'm from Seattle and have to say in the part of the neighborhood they're in would seem risky, but like Joe said they're prolly used to it. I'm wondering if these are the two same guys who showed up to at my ol' theater for Episode 1 six hours early, with lawn chairs, a radio, shitload of blankets, mini-fridge and camped in the front of the line inside the building! We had a rent-a-cop, but all he did was strike up a conversation with them about the movie. That's why we nicknamed him Mouth. I remember working doorstand that night and still was able to snag better seats than them at the midnight showing .

In addition, I have not stood in a line since leaving the USMC in 1968, I promised myself that I would never stand in a line again and I havn't.

Those two Star Wars geeks who camped out in front of the Cinerama were interviewed on local TV today.
The "brilliant" reporter asked what they thought of the movie.
What the hell did you think they were going to say after "living" outdoors these past five months waiting to buy the first tickets!
Sounds to me like Fox or Lucas paid these clowns because their review sounded like something right out of a pressbook.
I always thought the Seattle media had better things to cover here in the first place, but that part of the story really took the cake for me.
